In this entry-level role, you will gain experience in all areas of civil law covered by the City Attorney's Office, including environmental, labor and employment, land use, public safety, and contracts among others. The City Attorney's Office is routinely involved in exciting litigation over issues of national interest, such as climate change, surveillance technology, and homelessness.As a Deputy City Attorney I, your duties will include performing routine civil legal work, providing advice and counsel to City staff and Boards/Commissions, and representing the City in litigation.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:Equivalent to graduation from a college or university with an appropriate law degree.Must be a current member of the California State Bar Association.Must be willing and able to attend evening meetings.Specified positions may require possession of a valid California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.APPLICATION PROCESS
