Darigold is seeking a Plant Controller to be a key business partner with the Operations team, serving as the financial lead for the company’s manufacturing plant in Pasco, WA. The successful candidate will be responsible for bringing our new facility to active production status, including working with Cost Accounting to establish Bills of Material, validate cost baselines and provide financial analysis of the assigned plant. The Plant Controller will act as a trusted business partner with the plant management team, evaluating production cost trends and managing financial aspects of plant operations. The Plant Controller is responsible for providing analytics that result in actionable insights to enable the plant to meet its growth and profit goals.Ongoing responsibilities of the Plant Controller include evaluating and developing internal controls, driving the month-end close activities, providing feedback and recommendations to optimize plant costs, inventory management, identifying continuous improvement opportunities, working cross-functionally with other parts of the company to streamline processes, working with IT to build robust tools and reporting, and mentoring junior members of the Operations Accounting team. Success factors include the desire and ability to plan, organize and provide analysis in all phases of the accounting process to assure the facility has the tools needed to operate in an efficient & profitable manner. The Plant Controller will report to Darigold’s Director of Operations Accounting. This position will be based at our new flagship facility in Pasco, WA, with a flexible hybrid schedule.What You Will Do:Data Integrity - Collaborate with operations teams to ensure that plant activity for production, shipments, plant expenses, and inventory adjustments are recorded timely and accurately.General Accounting - Ensure compliance with Darigold policies and procedures in accordance with U.S. GAAP.Internal Controls - Assess design and execution of local internal control practices that support accurate financial reporting.Cost Accounting - Coordinate with Cost Accounting team to ensure accuracy of standard costing for monthly accounting close and reporting cycle.Planning & Forecasting - Coordinate the plant Annual Operating Plan (AOP) with preparation of the plant budget and ongoing reporting and analysis of actual costs vs. budget.Reporting - Responsible for monthly journal entries and overhead analysis and reporting.Standardization and Documentation - Lead efforts to document processes and procedures, including standardizing and reducing duplicative processes.Special Projects - Lead or assist special projects from time to time as part of the Corporate Finance team.Facilitate trusting relationships through effective communication and follow-through on commitments.Some travel may be required to plant / periodically to HQ (less than 20% of time).What You Bring:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (e.g. Finance, Business) OR equivalent level progressive Accounting experience.Minimum of 5-10 years of Accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.Strong team player with effective communication skills, both oral and written.Demonstrated problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on process improvement and efficiency.Strong understanding of standard cost accounting and its implications in a manufacturing environment.Knowledge of inventory control within a manufacturing environment.Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Understanding of U.S. GAAP and design of internal controls.High degree of initiative and flexibility.Willingness to challenge the status quo.Ability to manage multiple priorities with an analytical mindset.Proficient in Excel.Benefits of Working at Darigold:Employer 401K contribution of up to 9%Employer paid life & disability coveragePaid time off and paid holidays8 weeks paid parental leaveEducation assistanceEmployee assistance programFlexible hybrid working arrangement where appliesAccess to great dairy products & participation in our employee butter purchase programCompensation range:
