The Hawai’i Symphony Orchestra seeks a full-time Director of Finance and Administration to join our team. A key organizational leader, the Director of Finance and Administration (DFA) is responsible for the integrity of all financial systems, creating an environment where financial planning, controls, and reports advance the Hawaiʽi Symphony Orchestra’s work. The DFA delivers clear, accurate, and timely data, while ensuring a workplace in which staff can perform to the highest of their abilities through oversight of business operations, human resources, risk management, and IT.Financial Responsibilities (80%)With bookkeeping staff, prepare and present finances for CEO, Board, Finance Committee, and funders.Prepare budgets and regularly update forecasts in partnership with senior staff.Provide analysis and reporting to support long-range plans and key financial goals.Ensure the integrity of daily administrative and financial activities, including record keeping, monthly closing, cash flow monitoring, production of financial statements, and payroll.Manage banking, insurance, risk management, landlord, HR and IT relationships and contracts.Develop sound policies, procedures, and controls for accounting, budgeting, purchasing, payroll, and other business functions to promote a culture of efficiency, reliability and discipline.Administrative Responsibilities (20%)Oversee Human Resources, including hiring and firing processes; staff onboarding and handbook; no harassment policies; and health insurance and other benefits programs for at-will administrative staff and musicians and stagehands operating under the Collective Bargaining agreements.Oversee grant reporting, audit, tax returns, and other forms necessary for federal, state and local compliance.Promote a culture of trust, teamwork and high performance with all colleagues.QualificationsDegree in accounting. CPA certification a plus.Five or more years of experience in finance or accounting, preferably at a non-profit.Detail-oriented with experience handling multiple projects and prioritizing workflow.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines, problem solve and work independently.Comfortable with clearly and thoughtfully communicating financial matters to laypeople.Working knowledge of QuickBooks or related financial software. Advanced Excel skills.Love for music and an understanding of the role the Hawaiʽi Symphony plays in the community.Reports to:

$75,000-$90,000, commensurate with experience; full time, exempt, salaried.
