Director, Operational Excellence

The Nashville facility is currently seeking a Director, Operational Excellence who will focus on building a foundation of Quality processes, lean manufacturing initiatives and process improvements to drive a culture of operational excellence within the Manufacturing function, and establish a sustainable continuous improvement practice within the facility.

This highly hands on position will act as a change agent, partnering with Senior Leaders across the site to identify, develop, prioritize, and execute specific process, quality and continuous improvement projects and roadmaps that drive measurable improvement in manufacturing performance and achievement of quality and operations excellence objectives.

Responsibilities

The Director, Operational Excellence will have the following responsibilities:

Define, design and implement process and continuous improvement programs focused on improvement of production processes and quality metrics that align with the overall business strategy.

Provide a foundational resource for training, coaching and leading transformation across the organization using Operational Excellence principles and techniques.

Ensure processes are in place that are monitored, measured, analyzed and standardized within the Quality function across the organization.

Implement formal review of key operational performance/financial performance metrics, with input to weekly and/or monthly KPI reports and review meetings

Facilitate cross functional process improvement initiatives and root cause analysis

Provide event follow-up to monitor the progress of projects to assure timely action, early intervention, appropriate support and achievement of expected tangible benefits. Follow-up after the completion of events to ensure the improvement/benefits have been sustained.

Engage the workforce as a coach in order to develop a problem-solving culture at all levels of the organization, and identify/empower the change agents

Effectively use project management skills and tools to manage improvement projects

Lead and direct Root Cause Failure Analysis of significant People, Process and Equipment related to downtime events; implement permanent corrective actions to mitigate probability of reoccurrence.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will typically possess the following:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing/Operations or related field

10 years minimum well-rounded progressive leadership working in a highly technical manufacturing environment

Prior training and certification in Operational Excellence process improvement tools and methodologies.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience leading Lean/Six Sigma events and driving lean transformation with proven results

Excellent verbal, written, listening, and presentation skills required

Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships and influence others without authority

Preferred Qualifications

Six Sigma Black Belt achievement

Operational Excellence experience within Aerospace manufacturing
