The Role

The CFO, based in our San Diego office, is responsible for the financial strategy and success of the company as directed by the Founding Partner and CEO. The CFO is a leader who can guide the financial systems that empower us. We’re searching for an experienced Chief Financial Officer to join our team of high-performing professionals and keep our finances positioned for continued success. The CFO will have a day-to-day, ongoing impact on company operations, helping us to analyze, strategize, and grow our three entities and their financial performance. This role has full responsibility for the revenue cycle and all accounting teams, working hand in hand with our VP of Operations, VP of Business Development, VP of People and Culture, and Agency Presidents.

The CFO participates as a productive member of the leadership team and supports the organizational mission and vision while growing our financial position. This includes the production of periodic financial and KPI reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results. The CFO will also work with our external Accounting Firm to ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. This seasoned financial strategist will also have experience raising capital, mergers and acquisitions, and adapting to change, whether it’s through growth or downsizing. As a member of senior management, the CFO will be comfortable in a leadership role that requires clear and effective communication skills.Duties & Responsibilities:Lead and direct the finance function with a balance of strategic and operational initiatives that support the growth ambition of the businessTake responsibility (either directly or via staff) for all cash management, investments, insurance, budgeting, and financial reporting, and help drive the company’s financial strategy and hiring needsCoordinate development of annual operating, capital, and program budgets, as well as reporting for the sameEnsure cash flow is compatible with operations by overseeing day-to-day accounting, recording, reporting, and internal-control activities of the organizationDevelop and implement best practices and tools to ensure a well-controlled yet flexible organization that has strong fiscal management, project coordination, cross-team communications, and workflowsComply with national and local financial requirements by studying existing and new legislation and taking appropriate actionWork with senior managers to efficiently develop budget proposals, provide access to project finance information, and ensure contract/grant compliance and reportingResearch revenue opportunities and economic trends, analyze internal operations, and identify areas for cost reduction and process enhancementPerform risk management through analysis of company liabilities and investments, and evaluate and manage capital structure and fundraising initiativesMonitor business performance with tracking tools, establish corrective measures as needed, and prepare detailed reports for earnings calls, management team, and rest of companyManage finance personnel and oversee financial IT systems, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory entities (ex: Financial Accounting Standards Board, Internal Revenue Service, state attorneys general)Builds and maintains financial data models, reporting systems, dashboards, and performance metrics to identify business trends and guide data-driven decision-makingDelivers financial reporting and analysis to the CEO, strategic leadership group, and Board of DirectorsCollaborates actively with the CEO on financial matters of strategic value and importance to the organization and participates actively in identifying solutions and aids in the execution of the sameOversee all company insurance policiesOversee the comprehensive financial forecasting models to predict future revenue, expenses, and cash flow on a global scaleCollaborate with regional and global stakeholders to establish financial goals and objectivesOversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectivesOversee the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and proceduresMonthly analysis of invoices to ensure accuracy and compliance with client contractsOversee the payroll functions and benefits from a financial perspectiveIntegrate and optimize financial information systemsDrive automation and process optimization of financial processesManage relationships with external vendors and consultantsDevelop and build talent and a high-performing finance and accounting team through mentoring, feedback, and professional developmentMonitor human capital resource managementProvides leadership to and subsequently leads the budgeting process in partnership with CEO, department directors and managers in the preparation and development of their budgets.Oversees the administration of the organization’s 401k retirement plan and ensures compliance with COBRA, IRS, ERISA and other related regulationsCollaborates with and provides leadership and counsel to senior Human Resources leadership specific to the financial modeling and design of group health, dental, vision, and disability plans, etc.Identify, analyze, and execute on corporate development opportunities, including partnerships and M&AACA Compliance Reporting;
