Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Contract Negotiator for University Procurement Services. Reporting to the Contract Manager, this position is responsible for independently negotiating and managing goods and services contracts in alignment with Rutgers University business requirements and objectives, best practices in procurement, and Rutgers University Procurement and Payment Policy. This position is the central point of contact for suppliers, internal procurement personnel, and departments for the contract areas that the position manages.Key Duties

Prepares, reviews, and negotiates complex supplier contracts, including high-value/mission-critical departmental contracts.Handles redlines in contracts and negotiates changes to ensure that Rutgers secures the best value.Collaborates closely with the Contracts Team, Strategic Sourcing Team, Supplier Relationship Managers, and various stakeholders to understand contractual challenges and develop solutions.Reviews requisitions associated with assigned contracts and processes them in accordance with University Procurement policies.Advises/represents Rutgers on contractual topics and negotiations.Acts as a point of contact for all formal and legal correspondence relating to contractual matters.Works closely with University General Counsel, Risk Management, and other departments to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.Manages assigned contracts over their lifecycle, tracking and implementing amendments, renewals, or terminations.Prepares reports of contracted suppliers for university-wide use.Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.Five (5) years of experience in finance, including drafting and negotiating contracts.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Extensive contracting experience, including the ability to interpret legal clauses and draft counterproposals.Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision in a matrixed organization.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams.Excellent communication, writing, facilitation, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated strong project management and analytical skills.Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience with Jaggaer eProcurement system.Experience with procurement (P2P) systems, preferably Oracle and Jaggaer.Position Information
