Position Summary

Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast (GSWISE) is seeking an exceptional and inclusive leader to serve as Chief Membership Officer (CMO). The CMO will support the mission of the Council by working with the CEO and other key stakeholders overseeing and leading the Membership, Community Outreach, and Marketing & Communications Teams, driving the organization's overall membership growth strategy. This position requires a visionary leader with strong sales and relationship management skills, who will champion our commitment to anti-racism and the dismantling of systems of oppression. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high level of emotional intelligence, executive function, and advanced cultural competency.

Compensation

Annual salary of $94,000 to $142,000, commensurate with experience and skillset.

Position Overview

Membership Growth Strategy: Develop and execute comprehensive strategies to increase membership across all demographics and communities within our service area.

Team Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Membership, Community Outreach, and Marketing & Communications Teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position will directly supervise up to 5 FTEs. As part of the Senior Leadership Team, this position will have staff oversight responsibility while working with all constituents throughout GSWISE.

Sales and Relationship Management: Utilize sales methodologies and effective relationship-building techniques to enhance membership acquisition.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Racial Justice (DEIRJ): Embed principles of DEIRJ into all aspects of membership strategy, ensuring equity and inclusivity in recruitment, outreach, and program delivery regarding Community Outreach.

Collaboration: Foster collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, including fellow senior leaders, staff, and volunteers, to achieve shared organizational goals.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Establish metrics and KPIs to monitor membership growth and engagement efforts, providing regular updates to the CEO and Board of Directors.

Employee Engagement: Foster a positive employee experience through effective communication, recognition programs, and initiatives promoting belonging and shared purpose.

Community Engagement: Represent Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast in the community, cultivating partnerships and alliances that support membership growth and organizational visibility.

Budget Oversight: Manage the budget for the Membership, Community Outreach, and Marketing & Communications teams, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to achieve strategic objectives.

Who You Are and Keys to Success

Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience with a proven track record in successfully driving membership growth and engagement in a complex organizational environment or an Advanced degree.

Expertise in strategic planning, aligning sales initiatives with organizational goals and priorities.

Strong understanding of cultural competency, anti-racism, and systemic oppression, and their application to membership strategies with a demonstrated commitment to advancing DEIRJ principles.

Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, adept at building trust, influencing stakeholders, and driving change across all organizational levels.

Exceptional ability to motivate and inspire teams towards achieving ambitious goals.

Strong analytical skills and experience in data-driven decision making.

High emotional intelligence, capable of navigating complex organizational dynamics and sensitive issues with empathy and professionalism. Ability to build relationships throughout all levels of the organization.

Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the areas of DEIRJ and cultural competency.

Experience in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations is preferred.

Highly accountable with strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Occasional travel within the region is required. A valid driver’s license and use of your own vehicle are preferred.

Open to work an occasional flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.

Willingness to subscribe to the philosophy of the Girl Scout program and joining as a Girl Scout member which includes paying a membership fee, either annually or as a life-time member.

We are Girl Scouts! Although work is performed in a normal indoor environment there will be times that will require exposure to outdoors.

Employees must occasionally sit and/or stand for extended periods and operate office equipment manually. The employee will routinely lift 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
