About Floating Museum:Floating Museum is an art collective that creates new models: exploring relationships between art, community, architecture, and public institutions. Using site-responsive art, design, and programming we explore the potential in these relationships, considering the infrastructure, history, and aesthetics of a space.Position Overview:Floating Museum is seeking a dynamic and experienced Development Director to play a pivotal role in our organization's growth and sustainability. As the Development Director, you will lead our efforts to secure funding, cultivate relationships with donors, and drive strategic initiatives in alignment with and in support of our mission. This position is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional to contribute to a groundbreaking arts collective and make a lasting impact on the intersection of art and community engagement.Key Responsibilities:Fundraising Strategy: Collaborate with Executive Co-Directors to develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy that aligns with Floating Museum's mission and goals. This includes identifying and pursuing diverse funding sources, such as grants, corporate partnerships, individual donors, and fundraising events.Donor Cultivation & Stewardship: Cultivate and steward relationships with existing and potential donors, sponsors, and partners. Maintain a donor database and track engagement to ensure a strong donor pipeline.Grant Management: Research, identify, and apply for grants from public and private sources. Manage grant administration, track reporting requirements, and monitor compliance to secure and maintain funding.Strategic Planning & Capacity Building: Collaborate with the leadership team and contracted consultants to contribute to the development of organizational goals and strategies. Ensure that fundraising initiatives are aligned with these strategic objectives.Financial Oversight: Work closely with the Executive Co-Directors, Operations Director, and contracted accountants to develop and manage budgets related to fundraising activities. Monitor and report on fundraising progress regularly.Collaborative Partnerships: Build and maintain partnerships with other arts organizations, institutions, and community stakeholders to advance the mission of Floating Museum and create new opportunities for collaborative fundraising and mutual support.Event Planning: Organize and oversee fundraising events and campaigns, including donor appreciation events, exhibitions, and other initiatives that engage the community and raise awareness about Floating Museum.Preferred Experience/Qualifications:3–5 years of fundraising experience, preferably in the arts or culture sectorProven track record of successful fundraising and development experienceExperience with project management and managing multiple projects/initiatives at onceExcellent interpersonal and written/spoken communication skillsExperience cultivating new and maintaining current donor relationships and partnersStrong knowledge of grant writing and grant managementAbility to build and maintain relationships with donors and partnersAbility to develop and execute fundraising plansHighly organized and detail-oriented.Availability to travel as neededHow to Apply:Interested candidates are invited to submit their resume, a cover letter outlining their relevant experience and qualifications, and references to info@floatingmuseum.org.
