)DescriptionPosition OverviewThis position is responsible for planning and executing operations for a variety of activities in the Conference Centers and for planned events for which the Conference Services Department is responsible.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupervises day-to-day operations of the Conference Services Department, which includes planning work schedules and monitoring employees’ performance.Ensures staff have updated qualifications and catering certificates.Ensures compliance with health and safety, licensing laws, and other legal regulations.Works with Coordinators to supervise the Conference Center and coffee bars. Regularly evaluates conference rooms and facilities for problems such as light outages, blemishes on surfaces or technical issues. Supervises maintenance, supplies and furnishings; calls vendors to service equipment in the Conference Center, coffee bars, etc.Plans and executes internal and external events, which includes meeting with clients and vendors to obtain information regarding their event. Designs menus to present to internal or external client and decides on event space layout to fit the flow of events. Tracks all room reservations and catering nationally.Liaisons with Facilities, IT and building management for special events.Updates catering manual and trains employees on how to order and execute catering needs and events.Prepares evaluations for direct reports and gathers appropriate input from evaluators.Secondary Duties and ResponsibilitiesMay provide fax, copy and other administrative duties as requested.Performs other duties as assigned.Working ConditionsAbility to stand and walk for long periods of time is required.Occasional overtime may be required.Ability to lift 30 pounds without assistance is necessary.Qualifications

EducationBachelor’s degree or related experience. Meeting Professional certification preferred.ExperienceAt least five years of catering and conference or event planning experience.Special KnowledgeWorking knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette and knowledge of appropriate table settings and service ware positioning.Knowledge of proper lifting and moving techniques.Technical SkillsExperience with facsimile, copy machine and PC, including knowledge of MS Office and scheduling software.AttributesExcellent customer service skills and the ability to maintain a professional demeanor within a fast paced environment.Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization.Other QualificationsAbility to lead work teams and work well as a member of a team.
