DescriptionGoldman Global Arts & Wynwood Walls is looking for an experienced, knowledgeable, forward-thinking professional with an incredible track record as an Art Gallery Director.The Art Gallery Director is responsible for the overall management and leadership of the gallery, including curating exhibitions, managing staff, fostering relationships with artists and collectors, and overseeing the financial operations. The Director ensures that the gallery’s mission and vision are effectively communicated and its reputation is maintained or enhanced in the art community.The ideal candidate should display a strong aptitude for hospitality, networking, and client interaction. Excellent organizational skills, the ability to effectively prioritize tasks, and knowledge of the gallery and/or museum business are expected. The candidate must also have a book of business.Benefits:Competitive payFlexible hoursDining DiscountsLife, medical, vision, and dental health insurance after 90 days & more!Paid Time Off BenefitsOnDemand Payroll FeatureCompensation:$95k-$100k Salary, based on experienceEssential Functions:Curatorial Leadership:Curate and organize exhibitions that align with the gallery’s vision and objectives.Select and commission works from artists, ensuring a diverse and high-quality selection of art.Collaborate with artists, curators, and external institutions to develop innovative and engaging exhibitions.Strategic Planning:Develop and implement the gallery’s strategic plan, setting exhibitions, sales, and outreach goals.Identify and pursue opportunities for growth and expansion, including new markets, collaborations, and partnerships.Ensure the gallery remains relevant in art by staying informed about current trends and developments.Financial Management:Oversee the gallery’s budget, including income from sales, grants, donations, and other sources.Set pricing strategies for artworks and exhibitions to maximize profitability.Manage financial reporting, forecasting, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.Marketing and Public Relations:Develop and execute marketing strategies to promote exhibitions, events, and the gallery’s brand.Cultivate relationships with media, art critics, and influencers to enhance the gallery’s visibility.Organize and host gallery events, openings, and special programs to engage the community and attract new audiences.Staff Management:Lead, mentor, and manage gallery staff, including curators, sales personnel, and administrative staff.Recruit, train, and evaluate employees, ensuring high performance and professionalism.Foster a collaborative and creative work environment that supports the gallery’s goals.Client and Artist Relations:Build and maintain strong relationships with artists, collectors, patrons, and other stakeholders.Negotiate contracts with artists, ensuring fair terms and conditions.Provide exceptional customer service to clients, assisting with sales and expert advice on art purchases.Gallery Maintenance:Ensure the gallery space is well-maintained, aesthetically pleasing, and conducive to displaying art.Oversee the installation and de-installation of exhibitions, ensuring that all artworks are handled with care.Inventory Management:Catalogue managementConsignment agreementsInbound and outbound inventory managementArtwork returnsOff-premises storage facilitiesArt Cloud Systems Management:ArtworkArtistClientsQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Art History, Fine Arts, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).Have a strong network of existing client relationships.Extensive experience in gallery management, curating, or a related field.Strong knowledge of the art market, contemporary art, and art history.Proven leadership and management skills.Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.Financial acumen with experience in budgeting and financial planning.Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.Passion for art and a deep commitment to supporting artists and the art community.
