As an exploratory career counselor you will work closely with students navigating major and career decisions while at Auburn. Our office offers an Exploratory major that allows first year students a structured exploration process through a class taught by academic advisors and career counselors from the Exploration Center. Additionally, we assist students at any point in their journey that might be questioning major choice or are unsure what careers might be the best fit for them.

Essential Functions
Conducts individual counseling sessions to help students and alumni effectively explore career options, pursue career readiness, and make informed career-related decisions. Guides students through occupational exploration and a productive career decision-making process.
Supports students in developing goals and priorities and provides relevant resources to facilitate successful exploration. Contributes to the development of resources for student and office use.
Conducts and helps develop, assess, and revise career exploration and career readiness workshops, presentations, and programming. This includes, but is not limited to, overviews of the services provided by Career Discovery and Success and the Career Services Network as well as internal and external resources available to students and alumni.
Maintains thorough and consistent notes on student appointments. Documents, reports on, and/or maintains records and evaluation information for both student meetings and workshops/presentations.
Teaches, as instructor of record,

courses.
May assist in the recruiting, hiring, and training of student ambassadors and/or other student assistants in the Exploration Center.
Participates in events that provide outreach to students, faculty, employers, and campus partners to promote the services of Career Discovery and Success and the Career Services Network.
Provides evidence of ongoing professional development to stay current and continuously improve in the field of career development with particular emphasis on career exploration, career readiness, decision-making, and counseling skills/techniques. Cross trains to be conversant with the major exploration academic advising services of the Exploration Center and with career strategy services across the Career Services Network.
Provides other counseling and administrative support as required to accomplish the mission and goals of Career Discovery and Success.

Master's degree inEducation, Counseling, or related field.
Level II:
Master's degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field

2 years experience. Experience must include at least 2 years at the preceding level or equivalent.

4 years experience. Experience must include at least 2 years at the preceding level or equivalent.
Substitutions allowed for Experience:When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
