The College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity (CEHC) at the University at Albany is seeking applicants for Manager of Communications & Marketing.

In coordination with the Office of Communications & Marketing, this position be responsible for the development and implementation of media and marketing campaigns related to University strategies and initiatives, building and sustaining a recruitment pipeline for CEHC and affiliated departments, and creating communication strategies for the College. The incumbent will highlight the strengths and achievements of CEHC and publicize these achievements through outreach activities designed to build the College's reputation, promote, recruit, and effectively fulfill its mission. This position will play a lead role in executing this charge, including serving as a liaison with outside groups and industry partners to facilitate collaborations and promote knowledge and awareness of the College.

The incumbent must exhibit strong communication and writing skills and possess an ability to work as a self-starter, collaborator and team-builder.

As the first college of its kind in the nation, the College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity is growing rapidly as it has recently established both undergraduate and graduate academic programs in Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security, and Cybersecurity in addition to the already established Informatics and Information Science programs. Primary Responsibilities:

Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies to promote the College's programs, students, alumni, faculty and staff, events, and initiatives in conjunction with college efforts related to marketing of CEHC, and its departments, programs, degrees, and related activities and efforts.

Provide administrative support of college efforts related to communications, inclusive of a multi-media driven approach (web, social media, print, ads, etc.).

Oversight, in coordination with the Office of Communications and Marketing, of college branding and promotional efforts.

Consistent and high-level delivery of faculty/student/staff highlights and accomplishments.

Integrate the elements above to support enrollment growth and position CEHC for success.

Collaborate with the University's Office of Communications and Marketing to support institutional objectives and branding consistency.

Collaborate with CEHC stakeholders to create engaging and informative content for various communication channels.

Provide administrative support to the College and perform across all aspects of college-related promotion, outreach, marketing, and communications efforts.

Attend on-campus, local and regional events as directed.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

BS/BA from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization in marketing, journalism, public relations, communications, or other related discipline.

Minimum of two years' experience directly related and progressively responsible work experience in marketing and communications management.

Demonstrated ability to professionally and effectively communicate with internal and external audiences.

Demonstrated understanding of multimedia storytelling.

Experience designing and publishing print and web media using industry-standard software tools.

Experience with print and web media publishing, and multimedia storytelling.

Demonstrated understanding of how social media platforms are utilized to build a brand, foster positive exposure, assist with recruitment, etc.

Demonstrated understanding of email marketing systems.

1-2 years of experience generating innovative marketing ideas and campaigns

Strong analytical skills to assess marketing performance and make data-driven decisions

Experience in adapting to changing priorities and working in a fast-paced environment

Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Available to work evenings and weekends as needed for events and outreach activities

Occasional travel for conferences, meetings and outreach events

High level of initiative and self-motivation and ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot

Applicants must have valid driver's license and personal vehicle with which to attend off-site events

Ability to lift and move marketing and related materials weighing up to 30lbs

Preferred Qualifications:

MS/MA from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization in marketing, journalism, public relations, communications, Higher Education or other related discipline.

More than 2 years of relevant work experience.

One or more years of experience working in higher education, in a professional position.

More than 2 years of experience in media design and publishing and the technical concepts involved in media published solutions.

More than 2 years of workplace experience utilizing social media platforms to build a brand, foster positive exposure, or drive recruitment or sales

More than 2 years of experience managing email campaigns.

Experience operating a DSLR camera

Professional Rank and Salary Grade: Senior Staff Assistant, SL-3, $58,000-$62,000
