Associate Publicity and Marketing Manager

to join our powerhouse marketing and publicity team!

This isn't just another job-this is an opportunity to be at the forefront of nonfiction publishing, where you'll lead the charge in crafting impactful publicity and marketing campaigns across a wide range of genres, including memoir, history, true crime, cooking, lifestyle, celebrity, pop culture, social issues, and more. You'll play a pivotal role in launching titles that educate, inspire, and ignite conversations on some of today's most compelling topics.

We're looking for someone who thrives in the fast-paced world of book publicity, has a deep understanding of both traditional and digital marketing, and knows how to connect with audiences across platforms. You'll collaborate closely with multiple departments, giving you the opportunity to build your skillset while getting books that matter into readers' hands.

This position can be hybrid in Naperville or NYC, or fully remote in the following states ONLY: AZ, CT, MD, MN, NC, NJ, NY, NV, OR, PA, TN, TX, WA, AND WI

As part of a collaborative and passionate team, you'll have the chance to:Drive media coverage for buzzworthy books in prescriptive and narrative nonfiction.Create unforgettable moments by planning bookstore events, securing media coverage, and organizing appearances at major conferences.Leverage the power of social media, using TikTok and Instagram trends to engage online communities and create excitement around our titles.Secure trade reviewsGenerate and coordinate media campaigns on assigned titles and contribute to publicity plans for titles across the listBuild personal relationships with major national media (i.e. NPR, morning shows, daytime TV, cable news programs, NY Times, PW)Secure major national media for frontlist nonfiction titlesDevelop and execute long-term, strategic plans to maximize appearances in most anticipated and "best of" lists from consumer media outletsCoordinate meetings with major national media throughout the year (in-person or via phone or video)Generate influencer promotional ideas, especially social media events, in collaboration with marketing teamEvents

Execute high impact author tours for key titles on the Sourcebooks and Callisto list each yearPartner with Events Specialist/Retail Marketing on select toursArrange local launch events for non-touring authors on the Sourcebooks and Callisto listMonitor Edelweiss grids for virtual event opportunities for non-touring authorsAttend select US-based conferences as needed (1-2 per year)

Press Materials

Develop effective media materials including press releases, galley letters, event guides, author bios and Q&As, etcWhere appropriate, create special ARC packaging, tie-in items, and full media kitsAuthor RelationsCommunicate efforts, accomplishments, and execution of publicity program to authors; serve as publicity lead on assigned titlesWork with authors to develop grassroots, localized publicity and influencer efforts upon publicationWork with authors and events coordinator to organize local book signings, seminars, etc.Relationship With Sales

Communicate weekly/monthly top-level nonfiction publicity activities to sales departmentWork closely with sales managers to ensure that nonfiction programs/campaigns reach full potentialPresent publicity and marketing plans at Sales ConferenceRequired Skills/Education:

6-8+ years publicity and/or marketing experience for a book publisher.Proven experience in book publicity and events; excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong media relationships.A willingness to experiment, pursue new ideas, and ways of working.Strong creative perspective including writing skills and visual instincts.Familiarity with TikTok and Instagram trends, and a keen awareness of the online audience landscape.Demonstrated interest in the adult non-fiction category is a plus.
