Job Title: Mammography Tech
Unit: Breast Center
Shift: Mon-Fri, 8:30A-5P
Facility: MVH
Independently performs all mammographic procedures utilizing proper techniques and administration of contrast media. Works under their scope of practice and in accordance with certificate/licensure in the administration of medications, operation of equipment, and venipuncture. Coordinates patient flow and the activities in the mammography department. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of duties in order to maintain equipment in good working condition. May perform procedures in other imaging modalities based on departmental needs.
Essential Duties & Functions:
Performs mammographic procedures of diagnostic quality as ordered by the referring physician and/or radiologist on patients of all ages according to established protocols and evaluates images for technical quality.
Obtains clinical history and data for correlation with the mammography procedure.
Implements screening and safety measures in accordance with prescribed mammography policies / procedures. Performs daily and weekly QC as required.
Practices sterile techniques during biopsy procedures.
Assists Radiologist in special procedures and in performing medical treatment during emergency situations.
Coordinates patient care with other areas in order to optimize patient time and satisfaction.
Assesses learning needs and educates patients/families regarding procedures based on individual needs. Thoroughly educates patients about exam.
Ensures that all records, files and reports are properly recorded as required, performs clerical duties when necessary, verifies a signed physician order is received and corresponds with the billed procedure.
Maintains knowledge of the locations and operation of all emergency equipment in the unit.
Follows radiation safety policies and procedures.

Education:
Education Required: Associate degree
Additional requirements:
Type of degree: Allied Health
Area of study or major: Radiologic Technology. Completed all mammography courses required for registry
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
CPR Certification required
ARRT RT (R) registry required
ARRT RT (M) registry required within 6 months
ODH licensure required
Experience
Experience Required: No prior job-related work experience
Preferred experience: One year experience or additional training in specialized field of Mammography
Knowledge/Skills:
Human anatomy
Proficient in Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
Radiology Information System (RIS) and Image Storage
Radiation safety
Proficient in FDA/MQSA database
