This position is located in the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC), Smithsonian Institution (SI). NMAAHC is the national museum for the study and exhibition of African American history and culture. Its primary purposes are to acquire, maintain and preserve objects that document social, cultural, political, military, technological and scientific developments in the United States; to conduct scholarly research designed to make significant contributions to the body of knowledge in the fields of African American history, to publish findings for both scholarly and general audiences; and to interpret historical developments through public exhibits and programs.The position is located in the NMAAHC, Office of Advancement. The Constituent Engagement Manager is responsible for ensuring that members and donors experience high-quality interactions with the unit that foster long-term engagement and investment.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Constituent Engagement Manager will provide advice, guidance and analysis to senior management on all aspects of the donor recognition program and establishes and maintains effective working relationships with high-profile individuals, corporate leaders, or foundations, focusing on fundraising and communications.In this position, you will:Serve as a key conduit for developing and disseminating information to donors and constituents.Implement and maintain a consistent donor recognition program.Develop a communications schedule and implement programs designed to engage members and donors, including preparing newsletters; sending electronic and written correspondence; scheduling donor events; developing invitation lists to events and activities; responding to donor inquiries; and providing updates on the museum's progress.In conjunction with Major Gift Officers, serve as a key point-of-contact with donors.Analyze and advise the Director of Advancement and NMAAHC senior staff on information and materials that should be made available to donors and approaches for the donor relations program.Develop new methods and strategies for specific aspects of the unit's donor relations program.Evaluate the impact and effectiveness of donor relations efforts and advise management on changes for improvement.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Experience required for this position is as follows:Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques of communication, donor relations, and stewardship to ensure that donors experience high-quality interactions with the unit that foster long-term engagement and investment.Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative techniques for analyzing and measuring the effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of administrative and technical programs.Knowledge of procedures and practices with regard to donor involvement and gift processing.Skill in analyzing the unit's donor experience and developing recommendations.Skill in designing and implementing donor events, programs, and opportunities.Skill in oral and written communication.Applicants who wish to qualify based on education completed outside the United States must be deemed equivalent to higher education programs of U.S. Institutions by an organization that specializes in the interpretation of foreign educational credentials.
