Job Title Research Analyst Job Summary The Research Analyst will independently provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the

Office of the Director (OD).

The primary objective is to provide services and deliverables through the performance of support services. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Plans, executes, and arranges laboratory experiments, new techniques and procedures; and performs laboratory techniques relating to scientific research.

Follow established procedures and protocols; utilize aseptic technique to perform experiments.

Provides technical experience needed to assist in analyzing scientific and technical research projects.

Demonstrates ability to read and evaluate proposed research to ensure accuracy of what is reported. Ability to evaluate proposed research against applicable USG and NIH policies and guidelines to ensure NIH compliance. Knowledge of applicable USG policies related to biomedical research (i.e. NIH Recombinant DNA Guidelines, BMBL, USG Policy for DURC, P3CO, etc.)

Prepares various reports and presentations detailing analyses of data.

Assembles and prepares required documentation for IRE meetings. Compiles information from outside resources and/or through external benchmarking to evaluate internal processes.

Performs basic research of various forms of scientific and technical literature and prepares summaries and in-depth reviews.

Conducts appropriate reviews of proposed research projects to ensure understanding of work objectives and possible outcomes. Demonstrates ability to provide scientific briefings on relevant literature and similar research to inform leadership on technical decisions.

Coordinates with staff in order to communicate research progress and results.

Coordinates DURC-IRE meetings, agendas, and documents for review to ensure timely and thorough reviews. Interfaces with senior level NIH staff and Principal Investigators with focus on professionalism and customer service.

Recommend changes and improvements in research processes and procedures.

Continuously monitors regulatory changes to ensure compliance with applicable USG regulations, policy, and/or guidelines. Provides recommendations to NIH staff on programmatic changes to increase efficiencies and processes.

Travel Requirements 0 - 10% Job Requirements Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology – Microbiology Certified Institutional Review Board (IRB) Professional (CIP) Research conduct and compliance - Policy briefs - Manuscripts Qualifications and Requirements Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills. Ability to function collaboratively within a team setting. Attention to detail and follow through. Highly effective problem solving, planning and organizational skills. Excellent people skills and strong communication skills, both oral and written. Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
