Senior Staff Accountant

will report to the Controller and is a key member of the finance team responsible for managing and overseeing various accounting functions to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial operations. This role often involves collaborating with other departments, supervising junior accounting staff, and supporting senior management in financial decision-making.Position Overview:The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks, including preparing and analyzing financial statements, managing general ledger entries, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and other regulations. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.Key Responsibilities:General Ledger Management:

Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely posting of entries.Financial Reporting:

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.Month-End Close:

Assist in the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.Audit Support:

Coordinate and assist with external and internal audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.Accounts Payable/Receivable:

Oversee and manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.Budgeting and Forecasting:

Support budgeting and forecasting activities, providing financial insights and analysis to senior management.Tax Compliance:

Assist in the preparation of tax filings, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.Process Improvement:

Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting operations.Team Leadership:

Mentor and support junior accounting staff, providing guidance and training as needed.Qualifications:Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is a plus.Experience:

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting, with a strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.Technical Skills:

Proficiency in accounting software (such as QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).Analytical Skills:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.Communication:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely.Organizational Skills:

Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Teamwork:

Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.Preferred Skills:Experience in the industry specific to the company (e.g., manufacturing, healthcare, non-profit).Familiarity with ERP systems.Knowledge of advanced accounting topics such as consolidations, foreign currency transactions, and mergers and acquisitions.Working Conditions:Typically a full-time position, with occasional extended hours during peak periods (e.g., month-end, year-end).Will work in office Monday through Friday.
