Staff Accountant

We have partnered with a leading independent insurance brokerage firm who is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their accounting and finance team.

Responsibilities:

Reconcile and maintain general ledger accounts and daily bank reconciliationsReconcile vendor/carrier statements; identify and resolve billing discrepanciesAnswer/direct incoming requests (email or phone from internal and external parties) appropriatelyMonitor and review system reports for accuracy and completenessProcess and review invoices, expense reimbursements, outgoing payments, journal entries and other accounting transactionsAssist in preparation of month-end and year-end close reports and schedulesSupervise, train, and evaluate technical and clerical personnelIdentify accounting problems and take appropriate action on recurring/daily issuesWork with senior accountant and manager on projectsPerform miscellaneous related duties as neededQualifcations:

Fundamental knowledge of accounting principles - Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business degree preferredAccount balancing and reconciliation skillsAbility to communicate effectively, both orally and in writingAbility to supervise and train assigned staffIntermediate skill level in PC software (Word, Excel and other software, as required)Proactive self-starter and detail oriented

$60,000 - $65,000 a year
