Who are we looking for?

Our U.S. West Pacific offices have a strong backlog of projects. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a

Senior Mechanical Engineer/Project Manager

to work from our Honolulu, Hawai’i office location. This position offers great variety of projects and the opportunity to be a lead Mechanical Engineer and grow an existing practice. You will lead delivery of mechanical projects under our local government and U.S. Federal Sector contracts. Experience in projects focused around

mechanical / HVAC, plumbing, POL, water/wastewater, waterfront and buildings/facilities . This role includes engagement with GHD’s Federal Sector and our West Pacific business development teams to advance the expansion of GHD’s electrical practice across the Pacific.

This position supports clients in Hawai’i, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and other Pacific island locations.

Responsibilities of the position will include, but be not limited to:

Strategy and Business Planning

Support the development of annual tactical business plans aligned with the overall strategic plan for the region.

Develop client capture plans through strong client knowledge, market insights, and strategic planning.

Support the initiation and effective relationships with key clients in the Pacific such as NAVFAC, Air Force, GWA, CUC, DPW, Hawai’i government, private and others.

Position for opportunities with clients in the Pacific.

Develop competitive proposals with new and existing clients.

Delivery

Technical lead in electrical engineering on a variety of U.S. Federal projects and local government projects.

Managing the delivery of electrical reports, plans, specifications, and calculations.

Managing external stakeholder expectations and working with cross-discipline teams on other market sector projects.

Providing technical QA/QC on multiple projects.

Mentoring less experienced team members.

Skills and Experience:

Documented success at all stages of the project life-cycle, including preparing project scope and fee proposals, writing feasibility studies, preparing basis of design reports, consulting, developing detailed design drawings and specifications, developing budgetary construction cost estimates, and providing construction support, and managing stakeholder expectations.

Experience with business development, capture planning, and marketing.

Exceptional track record with project execution.

Flexible and able to meet challenging deadlines.

A self-starter with sound judgment and decisiveness.

Experience working with the Uniform Facilities Criteria (UFC) and other Department of Defense engineering requirements.

Experience working with the International Electrical Code and the National Electrical Code.

Able and willing to travel to project job sites and client offices as needed.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree from an ABET accredited school in Electrical Engineering or similar degree.

Minimum of 10

years of relevant engineering experience with exposure to defense, water/wastewater, architectural, industrial, or related projects.

Registered Professional Engineer in Hawai’i or ability to obtain Hawai’i electrical license within 6 months. Other state engineering registrations such as California, Guam and CNMI may be considered.

Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) Certificate desired but not required.

Must be a US Citizen.
