About this role:

This role is mainly in the field, so candidates could be located anywhere in the state of IL. Candidates based in the Chicagoland area will be expected to come to the Chicago office once a week.

This role will oversee a team of 12 employees who are responsible for business development and professional relations. The role also involves building new relationships with referral sources.

Gateway provides a company car, cell phone, laptop, credit card, and covers all travel expenses.

In addition to the base salary, this role offers quarterly bonuses based on revenue.

The Director of Business Development (Professional Relations) is responsible for:

Collaborates with Chief Marketing Officer and other Gateway administrative leaders to develop sales and marketing plans within each region.

Oversees and manages a geographically dispersed professional relations (business development) team of 12:

Interviews and on-boards professional relations team members

Provides training and skill development to professional relations team staff

Directs team to focus on delivering top quality customer service with patients and all referent relationships

Coaches team members in assessing difficult situations, resolving customer relations issues, adjusting sales approaches and strategies and monitoring outcomes of these efforts

Facilitates team effectiveness through individual coaching and regularly monitoring performance and efforts

Regularly spends time in the field with the team to assess effectiveness and overall skill level

Researches variances by reviewing reports and other data and metrics while comparing actual activities and results against goals

Adjusts sales plans and removes barriers to ensure targets are met

Adjusts team assignments and may reconfigure sales territory plans to achieve goals

Research and analyze market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments in behavioral health to inform business development strategies.

Cultivate and maintain high-level relationships with key stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, referral sources, community organizations, and other potential clients and patients.

Collaborate with internal teams, including the Executive Leadership Team, Community Division Administrators and Executive Directors, to develop tailored solutions and proposals that meet the needs of prospective clients.

Responsible for budget forecasting, managing expenditures and planning for short and long-term needs of the team. Ensures expenditures align with current objectives and implements methods to monitor the budget.

Coordinate and participate in networking events, conferences, and industry gatherings to promote Gateway Foundation’s services and foster new connections.

Communicates regularly and conducts individual, regional and all staff sales team calls and meetings to review data, track progress, celebrate successes and make necessary adjustments.

Track, measure and report on key performance metrics related to business development activities.

Support the development and implementation of marketing initiatives to enhance brand visibility and generate leads.

Stay informed about changes in healthcare regulations, policies, and reimbursement practices that may impact business development efforts.

Assist and consult with the Marketing team in the creation of marketing materials, presentations, advertisements and other promotional collateral to support business development efforts.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of business development processes and strategies through feedback and innovation.

Prepares and presents weekly, monthly, quarterly and other unique reports showing activity and results as it aligns with individual and overall team goals, as well as operations/site and market channel budgets.

Requirements:

10 years of experience in business development, sales or marketing roles, preferably within the healthcare or addiction treatment industry.

3-5 years of administrative management experience, preferably in behavioral health treatment or other healthcare field.

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Healthcare Administration, or related field.

Comprehensive knowledge of direct sales management and business development strategies, techniques and common practices.

Advanced interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and negotiate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Advanced problem-solving skills, organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Strategic and critical thinker with a proactive and results-oriented mindset.

Active listening skills, persuasion and negotiation skills to develop and build referral relationships, implement change and resolve complex issues.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Customer Relationship Management software.

Knowledge of addiction treatment services and behavioral healthcare landscape is a plus.

A valid driver’s license and ability to travel 4-5 days of the week throughout IL.

Compensation:

Base pay range: $94,796 - $130,275

Quarterly Bonuses: based on revenue

Physical Requirements:

Ability to communicate with others in person or by telephone.

Ability to proofread, check and verify data and information, both in printed form and on a computer monitor display.

Ability to use a keyboard and display monitor to enter, retrieve, and/or audit information and data.

Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely, and remain alert to traffic conditions and to identify and comply with traffic signals and signs.

Ability to stoop and bend, reach and grab with arms and hands, and lift and carry up to 20 pounds to transport and set-up displays and distribute literature.

Ability to remain alert to traffic signs and conditions.
