The Salesforce DevOps Release Manager is responsible for managing the release management strategy of our weekly, sprint-based and large-scale implementations, including our salesforce environment management and deployments. The DevOps Release Manager is responsible for developing a deployment calendar across several concurrent workstreams, developing a release management plan for every project, mentoring junior release managers for back promotions and ultimately ensuring that our multiple Salesforce orgs stay in sync. RESPONSIBILITIES : The Release Manager will be responsible for overseeing the software release process, including planning, scheduling, coordinating, and controlling the release of software products into sandboxes and production Coordinate and communicate release activities with stakeholders, including developers, testers, operations, and business owners Continuously improve the release process, including implementing automation and other efficiency measures Create and maintain release management dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators Develop the release management lifecycle throughout our delivery framework; including scheduling the release, coordinating between teams and the deployment of release as per the schedule and timeline Ensure that developers are following the DevOps best practice to improve our delivery services Ensure that all necessary release documentation is complete and up-to-date Ensure that all releases comply with company policies and procedures Identify potential risks that can impact the release and mitigate them, such that the scope scheduled and quality of the release is not affected Manage the Go-Live activities and communications to teams and business stakeholders Manage risks and issues related to software releases, and work with stakeholders to mitigate and resolve them Monitor and report on release progress, including metrics related to release quality, schedule, and budget Partner with the technical team and QA team to ensure that all code and configurations have been unit tested, validated and passed all testing before scheduling Production deployments Partner with the technical team to ensure that we review the Salesforce releases to plan for any preview windows or assess any risks with the deployment plan for projects Plan and give weekly updates on the release activities Schedule the release readiness reviews before deployment and milestone reviews after each release Stay current with Salesforce platform updates, features, and best practices to enhance the release management process MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or an equivalent degree (preferred) 5 years of managing release management duties, including working in Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery pipelines 5 years of experience as a Salesforce System Administrator or Developer Salesforce Certified Administrator (required) Salesforce Certified App Builder or Salesforce Platform Developer I (desired) Copado Fundamentals I Certification (desired) Able to demonstrate proven core Salesforce System Admin skills and knowledge, including user management, workflows/rules, page and custom object configuration, Site and Community administration. The successful candidate will work closely with development teams, operations, and other stakeholders to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of high-quality software releases Extensive experience managing DevOps and Agile tools; including JIRA, Azure DevOps or similar project management tools Extensive Experience in Copado, Gearset, GitHub or similar release management and software development versioning tools Experience in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies Experience in Agile methodology, working in 3-week sprints, daily scrums, etc. Strong understanding of Salesforce best practices and functionality A documented history of successfully driving projects to completion A demonstrated ability to understand and articulate complex requirements Previous experience working in a SCRUM or agile environment is preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Self-motivated and able to work both with the team and independently while remote Deep understanding of general CRM architecture as well as Salesforce process defaults and data structures Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent project management skills and a positive attitude Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, handle and prioritize simultaneous requests, and manage laterally and upwards Creative and analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills Must demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization Ability to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, translate high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs Ability to assess the impact of new requirements on Salesforce and all upstream and downstream applications, systems and processes Solid understanding of and detailed experience with the Salesforce architecture Areas of focus; Service Cloud, Omni-Channel, Communities, Case Management, Knowledge, CTI, SMS, Chat integration. Added plus: Education Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Einstein Analytics REPORTING: This position will report to the Delivery and Operations Manager. Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer. We are not offering sponsorship now or in the future. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This job can be a fully remote position or work in our local offices in Adelphi, MD. This position operates in a professional office environment. The employee may be exposed to various components of an office environment such as florescent lighting, pollen, dust, recycled air, cooling fans, semi-enclosed areas, central heating, seasonal warmer temperatures and office noise.
