The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), Division of Administrative Services is recruiting for an

Accounting Technician 1 !This position is in the General Government (GGU) bargaining unit at a range 12.What You Will Be Doing:You will offer support to the fiscal team in travel payments and reconciliations, payments related to service contracts, and procurements and reimbursements in accordance with the Alaska Administrative Manual (AAM) and within the collective bargaining union contracts. You will also serve as the primary contact for reconciling PCard transactions for the department and work jointly with supporting divisions on resolving complex accounting errors and transactions. This requires in-depth knowledge of various bargaining unit travel policies, State of Alaska travel and procurement policies, the Alaska Administrative Manual, and the Internal Revenue Service's (IRS) standards and calculation for taxable travel.

The Benefits of Joining Our Team:The Accounting Technician 1 is part of a five-person team nestled within a larger Anchorage fiscal unit and works under the general supervision of the Accounting Technician 3. This position contributes to the overall success of processing travel payments and reconciliations, payments related to service contracts, procurements and reimbursements in accordance with the Alaska Administrative Manual (AAM) and within the collective bargaining union contracts. The Accounting Technician 1 position is located at JBER in the National Guard Armory and provides ample parking, secure building, paved trails for breaktime walking or jogging, an on-site, no-cost, fitness center, and on-site coffee bar and eatery.

The successful applicants must pass a federal background check in order to qualify for military base access, which is required with this position's work location on base. The background check may include fingerprinting. The circumstances involved in the conviction will be considered.Minimum Qualifications:One year of clerical work experience maintaining records that included using computer systems and performing basic arithmetic calculations.

Substitutions:Successful completion of a formal vocational education program in accounting or bookkeeping will substitute for the required experience.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month).

Required documents due at the time of interview:Last three (3) performance evaluations or three (3) professional letters of recommendation, if evaluations are not available.Three (3) professional references we may contact by phone (must include position titles, and one former supervisor).Only include transcripts if using education to meet minimum requirements.Valid Alaska Driver’s License.Supplemental Questions:For your application to be considered complete and evaluated, you must answer all of the supplemental questions.
