Yavapai College Foundation, Director of Finance and Operations

Hiring Range: $86,361.60 - $112,278.40

The Director of Finance for the YC Foundation and JLLPAC prioritizes, schedules, oversees, and evaluates work development and administration of the budget. Plans, directs, evaluates, and oversees administration of the Yavapai College Foundation by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws which means they might have direct and indirect reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Participation in interviewing, hiring, and training of employees, planning, assigning, directing work and evaluating performance when necessary.

Plans, administers, controls the functions of general accounting, automated accounting, and other administrative systems such as fiscal services, grants, and contract accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, travel, cash management, investments, tax audits, capital financing, property accounting and control.

Administers the overall financial management services and reporting, both internal and external for the foundation to include all records, recording of transactions, reporting and management of adequate controls for all funds.

Coordinates the preparation of financial statements and Form 990 and management of all audits of foundation activities to include the preparation of required workpapers prior to and during audit field work, formulation of responses to audit findings and implementation of necessary corrective actions.

Provides financial reporting for internal management, foundation board of directors, state and federal agencies and the public.

Provides budget monitoring and reporting for all areas for the foundation.

Provides financial services to the JLLPAC by paying artists and related fees, collecting related ticket sales revenues, grants and donations, and reporting on JLLPAC activity to the Yavapai College Director of Business Services/Controller.

Responsible for fund integrity and proper fund management for all restricted funds to ensure compliance with donor stated intentions, written gift agreements, and foundation policies and procedures.

Plans, implements, and administers a computerized financial system to provide improved financial information services to all the foundations stakeholders.

Serves as an institutional liaison for the foundation with individuals responsible for financial management at the other state community college foundation.

May represent and act for the Foundation Executive Director in their absence. Addresses complaints and resolves problems.

Serves on internal and external committees related to financial management and reporting. Develops, recommends, and interprets fiscal policies and procedures.

Assists in the development of long-range financial planning.

Coordinates with directors and managers responsible for budget, procurement, auxiliary and internal audit services.

May have direct or indirect reports.

Regular attendance is an essential job function as it demonstrates dependability towards the performance of job duties.

Minimum Expectations & Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.

3-5 years of experience in nonprofit or governmental organizations, including fund accounting.

Knowledge of GAAP for Nonprofits and current FASB pronouncements.

Experience in the preparation of financial statements.

3-5 years of Proven leadership and management skills.

Effective communication skills.

Preferred Skills & Abilities

Higher education experience.

MBA or CPA certification.

Experience in preparation of Form 990, Return of Organization Exempt from Income Tax.

Knowledge of current accounting and reporting requirements for non-profit organizations.

Professional experience in a community college/higher education work environment.

Experience in the management of auxiliary funds for a higher education institution.

Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge accounting software.

Experience with for-profit accounting for a higher education performing arts venue.
