Salary: $110,000 - $125,000

The Neon Museum is a nationally accredited non-profit organization experiencing tremendous growth. Rooted in a mission dedicated to collecting, preserving, studying and exhibiting iconic Las Vegas signs for educational, historic, arts and cultural enrichment, The Neon Museum is now embarking on an ambitious new relocation and expansion effort nearly tripling its existing footprint. We are seeking an experienced, creative, collaborative advancement professional who will join the Executive Director in ensuring ongoing operational funding is secured, while speaking with donors as it pertains to supporting the new Museum.

The Director of Donor Engagement (DDE), a senior position reporting to the Executive Director, leads a small team of staff managing grants, membership, database, and events fundraising with an annual goal of $1.9M.

The ideal candidate will work with departmental staff and the Executive Director to establish portfolios for existing and potential donors to develop growth goals in all philanthropic channels. While the DDE’s primary focus is on operational support, the DDE’s voice will play a significant role in developing strategy for the capital campaign.

Job FunctionsStrategy

Serve as member of the Senior Staff exemplifying leadership, strategy, and collaboration

Create, implement and execute annual development plan

Establish metrics of success for individual team members and department as a whole

Assess and improve opportunities for increased charitable giving including corporate, foundation, government, and individual

Collaborate with finance department to ensure proper revenue tracking, projections and reporting.

Collaborate with Marketing Department on fundraising campaigns, donor and member recognition, communications and retention.

Serve as staff liaison with Board of Trustees Development Committee

Grants

Approve and provide guidance in the creation and maintenance of the Museum’s grants calendar with a keen eye to identifying and cultivating new funders.

Membership

Guide Membership Manager in strategy to grow, renew and upgrade memberships, while looking at trends in giving into other areas (restricted, annual fund, sponsorship, etc.).

Events

Provide oversight and guidance to fundraising events and programs held throughout the year.

Research & Database

Direct prospect research for government, foundation, corporation and individual profiles.

RequirementsDesired Experience and Qualifications

Ten+ years’ experience in philanthropic fundraising or direct donor management raising at least $500k annually.

Five+ years’ experience with staff management

Strong knowledge of fundraising best practices and major, annual and planned giving programs with the ability to coach team members on concepts and direct strategies.

Able to gather and analyze data, to devise solutions to problems, to prepare clear and concise reports, an ability to follow instructions, constant attention to detail and ability to perform with a high level of accuracy, completeness and legal compliance.

Working Conditions

Requires travel to multiple sites and locations.

Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions and in close proximity to other people sitting / standing for long periods of time.

Requires availability for occasional work on evenings and weekends.

Available to work varied shifts and extended hours, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Ability to work outdoors in seasonal desert weather conditions.

Ability to lift 35 pounds.

Ability to use a computer and office equipment.

Valid clean driver’s license and use of a car.
