Job Summary:The Core Tax Services Senior Manager is responsible for advising clients on the tax implications of their business objections, evaluating and selecting alternative actions to lessen tax burden and cost of compliance, identifying different methods of complying with tax regulations while acting as the primary client contact for complex tax issues. In this role, the Core Tax Services Senior Manager is charged with applying knowledge to understand potential tax issues, recognizing and communicating potential risks and changes in tax policy, and making top-level decisions regarding filing, preparation, and resolution of questions from federal/state agencies. In addition, the Core Tax Services Senior Manager will be a critical member of the office/region leadership team and actively participate in marketing, networking, and business development within an area of expertise and specialization while maintaining client relationships.Job Duties:Tax Compliance

Ensures clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing their tax and reporting burdens.Conducts top-level review of T/R and resolves all tax issues with clients; involves specialists where appropriate.Plans for early recognition of material tax and compliance issues and consults with the client and/or partner as appropriate.

Research

Identifies when research is needed; clearly frames issues to be researched; and reports the analysis.Identifies complex issues to be researched by the engagement team and provides research methodology for efficient research process.Trains managers/staff on research skills and helps to appropriately frame tax issues for analysis.

ASC 740-10 (FAS 109 and FIN 48) Tax Accruals

Correctly applies Firm policies regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48.Helps others learn and apply ASC 740-10 and Firm policies.Reviews tax provisions and prepared workpapers.Explains components of the income tax provision and uncertain tax positions to clients.

Tax Consulting

Assists with developing and implementing efficient methods to maximize client benefits.Applies tax knowledge and knowledge of business/industry to recommend solutions.Monitors implementation of work plans for tax consulting projects.

Tax Specialization

Develops an understanding of technical and practical issues regarding one or more areas of taxation.May organize and conduct effective external CPE training sessions in area of specialization.

Strategy Development

Introduces and develops new ideas to improve the position of clients and the Firm.Presents complex strategies to clients and prospective clients.

Other duties as requiredSupervisory Responsibilities:Supervises associates and senior associates on all projects.Reviews work prepared by associates and senior associates.Trains Associates and Seniors on current software tools.Acts as a Career Advisor to associates and senior associates.Schedules and manages workload of associates and senior associates.Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Education:Bachelor's degree required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics preferred.Master's in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.Experience:Eight (8) or more years of prior relevant tax experience required.Industry expertise in one or more tax specialty preferred.Prior supervisory experience required.License/Certifications:CPA certification, Attorney, or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent required.Software:Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite preferred.Experience with tax research databases preferred.Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Superior verbal and written communication skills.Strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills.Ability to develop and maintain client relationships.Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.California Range: $146,000 - $200,000Colorado Range: $120,000 - $185,000NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $175,000 - $205,000Washington Range: $150,000 - $200,000
