The Chester Family YMCA, a branch of the YMCA of Greater Richmond, is seeking an energetic, motivated team player to provide leadership and direction to our Youth and Teen programs in Chester, VA.

DUTIESThis position will be responsible for teen initiatives to include: Leaders Club, Youth and Government, Achievers, teen nights, and program growth and quality. The candidate will be responsible for planning activities and scheduling staff.The Director will also help provide leadership and supervision of school-age children and day-to-day operations of the child care center. Specific duties include interacting and building relationships with children and families; facilitating positive communications between the Y, program participants, and school officials; supervising on-site staff; designing, planning, and implementing age-appropriate developmental activities and programs; ensuring that child care licensing standards and association quality standards are adhered to; maintaining and monitoring site and equipment; and attending and leading child care trainings.Other areas of focus will be on creating high-quality age-appropriate programs and developing collaborative relationships with members and community partners. The Director will also work closely with other branch leaders in efforts to welcome, support, and connect with all members.This is a hands-on position that will require a mix of mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

QualificationsCandidates must have at least one year of experience with youth and teen programming. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and a college degree in a related field is preferred. Experience leading and managing staff is desired, as well as strong computer skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to multitask.Experience with supervising staff, budgeting, and program administrationStrong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skillsA valid driver's license and a good driving recordCandidates must meet Virginia DOE licensing requirementsMinimum age is 21Candidates must be responsible, enthusiastic, and able to direct children and staff in a positive wayExperience in leading groups of youthWho We AreThe YMCA of Greater Richmond is a nonprofit organization with the goal of strengthening the foundations of community.
