Supply Chain Director:

Position Overview:

The Supply Chain Director leads the procurement, material planning and production planning teams & strategies at staff and across all manufacturing operations. This position will lead and develop the supply chain team to source, negotiate, schedule, and plan & execute material requirements to meet delivery, quality, and cost objectives.

This position actively oversees supplier selection, long-term contract negotiations, supplier relationships, material & production planning, line-side delivery, and forecasting. This position will set up and execute an MRP system for all product and mold operations. This position is responsible for development and execution of inventory strategies and ensure inventory accuracy. This position will drive material cost reductions and development of KPI’s that align to the organization goals including Build to Schedule & On-Time Delivery.

The Supply Chain Director should possess strong leadership skills, organizational skills, strategic thinking, and an understanding of Procurement, Material Planning, Production Planning and Logistics processes. This role plays a critical role in ensuring the organization's supply chain is efficient, cost-effective and aligned to business objectives.

Job Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

Lead the Procurement, Production Planning, and Inventory teams to meet all external customer requirements as well as internal cost and delivery needs.

Develop a Supply Chain organization to ensure alignment to the organization’s goals.

Mentor, train and develop the supply chain team to ensure they are effective in developing and executing procurement, material planning, scheduling and inventory strategies.

Supply Chain Strategy:

Implement supply chain strategies aligned with organizational goals.

Evaluate and enhance supply chain policies and procedures to ensure efficiency and compliance.

Develop suppliers and internal capabilities to create competitive leverage in the procurement area.

Implement an MRP system to meet internal build to schedule metrics & customer requirements.

Develop a capacity model and forecasting tool to interface with sales and meet customer needs.

Vendor Management:

Establish a Supplier Development process to qualify and validate new suppliers.

Identify, evaluate, and select vendors and suppliers based on quality, cost, and reliability.

Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.

Contract Negotiation:

Lead long-term negotiations with strategic suppliers to secure favorable terms, pricing and conditions.

Draft and review supplier contracts to ensure legal and contractual compliance.

Cost Management:

Implement cost-effective initiatives to gain year-over-year savings and achieve cost savings goals.

Analyze market trends and conditions to make informed purchasing decisions.

Risk Management:

Assess, communicate, and manage risks associated with buying and procurement activities.

Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies with the support of the management team.

Compliance:

Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.

Stay abreast of changes in regulations and update procurement processes accordingly.

Process Improvement:

Actively lead Continuous Improvement Activities for Supply Chain to improve costs, efficiency of the team.

Implement best practices to streamline the procurement workflow and cost basis of the products.

Budget Management:

Support and meet the supply chain budget as well as year-over-year cost savings objectives.

Monitor spending and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.

Collaboration:

Collaborate with internal departments, including Sales, Finance, Plant Operations, and Quality to align supply chain goals & activities with overall business objectives.

Drive ad-hoc and weekly updates for order status to the Sales team to ensure effective customer service.

Work closely with stakeholders and customers to understand their requirements and expectations.

Performance Metrics:

Develop and meet key performance indicators (KPIs) for the supply chain that aligns with the overall goals.

Regularly assess and report on the performance of supply chain KPIs.

Market Research:

Stay informed about market trends, supplier capabilities, and emerging technologies.

Learn and understand the industry to identify new opportunities and potential risks.

Sustainability:

Integrate sustainable and ethical sourcing practices into the procurement process.

Evaluate and review suppliers’ commitment to environmental and social responsibility.

Communication Skills:

Effectively communicate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.

Participate in supply chain strategies and reviews to senior management.

Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or related field (preferred).

ASCM, ISM, NCMA or SCPro Certification, post-secondary education and degree is desired.

Proven experience (10+ years) in leadership positions in supply chain, planning or procurement roles.

Strong track record of meeting and exceeding targets.

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Mentor other buyers & planners in the proper procedures for all purchasing and purchasing strategies.

Strategic thinking with the ability to analyze market trends and develop actionable plans.

Ability to travel as needed.

Independent; self-motivated/confident, team-oriented, can follow instructions, good attendance, leadership ability, decision maker, meet deadline.

MRP systems – active use, set-up and development of MRP tools is required.

Work accurately, with attention to detail, and be able to detect defects.

PC Skills; Word, Excel, Email, Internet, networking awareness.

Abilities:

Speak, read, and write in the English language.
