JOB SUMMARY:

In collaboration with the board of directors, the CEO is responsible for the organization’s mission to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. The CEO provides necessary management and leadership to ensure the financial security, sustainability and growth of the organization by utilizing strong management, problem solving and organizational leadership skills

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Facilitates the Board of Directors in establishing goals and developing policies, procedures, budgets and programs that fulfill the mission of the Boys & Girls Club.

2. Provides leadership to Club staff through the establishment of goals, objectives, and procedures; develops administrative and operational standards by which goals will be met.

3. Directs the financial operations of the agency; prepares and monitors annual budget; reviews and approves all expenditures; ensures financial reports and audits are conducted in accordance with applicable laws. Assures that the organization is in compliance with BGCA membership and other requirements or standards of BGCA, United Way and other affiliated and regulatory agencies.

4. Directs staffing activities of the organization, including recruiting, selecting, training, supervision, and evaluation of both paid and volunteer staff. Is primarily responsible for payroll and employee benefits.

5. Monitors and approves the organization's program services and assures achievement of its mission and goals.

6. Promotes Boys & Girls Club services to individuals, other service organizations, and the local community.

7. Directs and participates in public relations and fundraising activities to include donor recruitment in partnership with the Development Director.

8. Provides professional leadership to the Board of Directors to assure development of an effective and motivated board, including identification, recruitment, training and involvement of members in meeting the goals of the organization. Meets and consults regularly with established board committees.

9. Ensures appropriate maintenance and use of the Club facility and other programming venues in partnership with Adrian Public Schools and Hudson Area Schools.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

· Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.

· A minimum of five years of work experience in a non-profit agency or Boys & Girls Club which included management and supervision, with at least three years in a leadership capacity; or an equivalent combination of experience.

· Demonstrated skills and competency in the following areas: the mission, objectives, policies, programs and procedures of Boys & Girls Clubs; of the principles and practices of non-profit organizations and of management; and resource development activities and sources of funding.

· Demonstrated ability to organize, direct, plan and implement effective operations.

· Leadership skills, including negotiation, problem solving, decision making, delegation.

· Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to speak effectively and persuasively to groups and individuals.

· Demonstrated competency and ability in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with the Board of Directors, staff, community groups, and other related agencies.

· Working knowledge of asset management including financial resources and property.

· Demonstrated ability to supervise professionals and other staff, including coaching and mentoring.
