Job Title: Financial Analyst 2Duration: 12 MonthsLocation: Stanford, CA 94305 (HYBRID work schedule)Pay Rate Range: $35/hr - $42/hrJob Description: The Financial Analyst 2 will become an expert user and trainer for the new Cardinal Planning and Budget system. This includes completing training and mastering the functionalities of the new budgeting system, participating in system testing and implementation, sharing knowledge with the dean's finance team and our departments, developing supplemental training materials or user guides, and providing training and support to our departments. This role also involves supporting various financial functions and activities for the dean's office, requiring expert financial knowledge, sound financial judgment, and thorough application of internal policies, procedures, and systems. Responsibilities include financial transaction review and submission, reporting, forecasting, and economic analysis.Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Financial Analyst works independently and collaboratively with the deans office finance team, many departments within the Vice Provost and Dean of Research, and the Budget System program team. Perform and design ad-hoc analyses of large complex data sets: reconcile complex accounts. Identify and resolve complex issues that may span multiple areas.Construct and assemble data for budgeting and decision-making; develop conclusions, and present a high-level summary of recommendations. May develop an annual budget for individual departments/units.Conduct analysis and resolution, and recognize exceptions. Participate in developing solutions that may require policy changes or the development of new processes; maintain a broader organizational perspective in decision-making.Execute internal control programs established by management, research new regulations, and recommend and implement approved changes. May manage compliance program for area of responsibility, and create complex compliance reports.Develop reports and presentations of complex financial data and metrics for management and third parties.Participate as a member of a project team; and support new initiatives. Make decisions determining an approach to managing and completing processes.Contribute to unit and organization strategy; assist in developing change management plans and materials as needed.Develop and maintain desktop procedures and process documentation for area of responsibility.Define requirements, develop and implement complex test cases, perform system testing, and analyze results.Participate in critical analysis of existing systems and processes, and identify opportunities for process improvement.Provide consulting advice to client group(s); serve as a resource on matters that require specific technical, financial, or subject matter expertise; support negotiations with external partners.May supervise, train, coach, and review the work of other staff, as needed. Contribute primarily through applying individual expertise.Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in business administration and four years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Advanced proficiency in business applications, such as the Microsoft Office suite and Google suite, especially Excel and Google Sheets.Demonstrated knowledge of financial systems including Stanford University's Oracle financial systems; internet and computer literacy.Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong communication skills, including the ability to prepare materials for and clearly and effectively communicate information to internal and external audiences and client groups.Demonstrated ability to contribute to part of a multi-functional team.Strong quantitative and analytical skills, independence, and self-motivation.Knowledge of databases, data extraction methods, and report presentation desired (tools Tableau, Smartsheet) and demonstrated ability to learn new systems quickly.Ability to work well with people of varying levels of authority and educational backgrounds and to elicit cooperation without direct authority to enable cooperative problem-solving.Job Types:
