SUMMARY:The Sr. Manager, FP&A will provide support for all financial aspects primarily in the Commercial area including reporting results, budgeting/forecasting, 3rd party vendor accruals, financial modeling, incentive compensation, and analytical and strategic support. This role will also provide support for corporate FP&A deliverables and integrate seamlessly with Exelixis' internal reporting and planning processes, including monthly reporting, quarterly forecast updates, annual budget, and long-range planning. The Sr. Manager will have one direct report.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Support the FP&A business partners within the Commercial organization, which includes Sales, Marketing, Market Access & Commercial Strategy, Analytics, & Operations.Participate in all aspects of Financial Planning and Analysis for the Commercial area including budgeting, forecasting, latest estimates, multi-year forecasting, financial reviews for actuals to budget and forecast, ad hoc analysis, incentive compensation, tactical planning support, and management reporting.Work closely with Accounting on the month-end and quarter-end close processes, including vendor confirmations, accruals, preliminary close analysis, reconciliations, etc.Manage incentive compensation accrual review procedures and direct quarterly payout approval process.Develop standards for financial planning, including researching & employing best-in-class financial analysis techniques.Prepare monthly variance analysis of actuals to forecast and budget, explain and investigate any major discrepancies, and understand key business drivers for the Commercial area.Provide insights into remaining forecasted spend based on current actuals.Prepare analysis to determine present and future financial performance to understand opportunities and risks to the forecast.Update Commercial budget and forecast presentations.Assist the FP&A business partner for the Commercial organization in managing day-to-day finance-related activities such as contract review, external vendor accruals, and payment tracking.Responsible for headcount tracking and reconciliation to support planning cycles and Human Resources.Review and analyze appropriate financial and operational data, identify trends, and develop reports and presentations for the Commercial cost centers.Perform ad hoc analysis to support strategy discussions and decisions, process improvement initiatives, and other special projects as needed.Drive continuous improvement efforts and initiate enhancements, both process and system-related.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for continuing professional development of Sr Financial Analyst direct report.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:Education:BS/BA degree in related discipline and nine years' experience; orMS/MA degree in related discipline and seven years' experience; orEquivalent combination of education and experience.Experience:A minimum of eight to ten years of related experience.Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis experience required, with previous experience working with Commercial organizations.Experience with financial systems (Hyperion Planning/Essbase/EPBCS and SAP) is preferred.Experience in big Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry preferred.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Must have strong analytical, strategic, problem solving and organizational skills.Strong communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills.Ability to build strong relationships across all levels within an organization.Team player with the ability to work independently, proactively, and effectively under pressure.Broad business acumen and sound business judgment.Advanced knowledge of Excel & PowerPoint.JOB COMPLEXITY:Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and competing priorities.Willingness to work in a fast-paced and changing environment, meeting deadlines in an accurate and timely manner.Requires excellent attention to detail while not losing sight of the big picture.Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.Network with key contacts outside own area of expertise.COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The base pay range for this position is $145,000 - $206,000 annually. The base pay offered will take into account the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity, among other factors. In addition to the base salary, Exelixis offers a comprehensive employee benefits package, including a 401k plan with generous company contributions, group medical, dental and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, and flexible spending accounts. Employees are also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus program, or if field sales staff, a sales-based incentive plan.
