About the RoleThe Director of Finance – North America is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the Magna Exteriors North American divisions. This includes forecasting, budgeting, financial reporting, and operational performance oversight.

Your Responsibilities

Manage a department of 4-5 people.

Financial reporting

Review and approve month end financial results of North American Divisions. This includes understanding the root causes of any variances and related corrective actions being taken by the divisions, summarized and reviewed with the Exteriors executive leadership team.

Review and approve the division’s controller model files (annual financial audits).

Support ongoing effective internal controls throughout the divisions.

Support timely closure in internal audit findings at the divisions.

Identify and analyze various KPIs to explain variances, identify trends, risks & opportunities, and insights that can yield operational improvements in the divisions.

Budgeting and forecasting

Review and approve weekly, quarterly, and yearly forecasts/budgets for the divisions, understanding root causes of any variances and corrective actions taken.

The forecasts/budgets are consolidated into a North America regional presentation for the Exteriors executive leadership team and Magna executive team as required.

Identify, quantify, and articulate significant risks and opportunities to executive leadership team.

Operational performance oversight

Cheque signer

Review and approve quote capital requests submitted by the divisions, validating the costing, capital, ED&D and other investments.

Review and approve capital requests submitted by the divisions, ensuring adherence to Capital Expenditure budgets/forecasts.

Support continuous improvement processes with the divisions, validating savings and overseeing the divisions management of this process.

Identify and create business cases to optimize the financial performance of the divisions.

Support the closure of the divisions open commercial issues.

Complete benchmarking analysis to help identify divisional best practices.

Review divisional practices to drive towards optimal working capital levels.

Actively manage and support the improvement of underperforming divisions.

Other analysis as required.

Education/Special Knowledge/Skills –

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance (accounting designation preferred).

Ability to understand manufacturing operations and their impacts on financial statements.

Ability to create business cases that drive financial improvements based on knowledge of operations.

Strong initiative and judgment.

Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written.

Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills along with strong time management and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision under pressure of deadlines while maintaining high accuracy.

Team player, highly motivated, with experience in maintaining confidentiality, discretion, and integrity.

Customer-focused, able to interact effectively with all employee levels positively and cooperatively.

Ability to exercise initiative, common sense, and maintain effective internal and external working relationships.

Consistent demonstration of flexibility and versatility.

Experience –

Minimum of 10 years related experience. Preference for experience as divisional controller of a large manufacturing operation.

Physical Demands/Work Environment –

Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer, may require travel.
