Overview

The Director of Human Resources is a senior leadership role tasked with shaping and executing the strategic vision for human resources at Ursinus College. This individual will be instrumental in leading the strategy for Human Resources, optimizing our Human Capital Management System (HCMS), and ensuring the effective implementation of HR policies and initiatives. The Director manages a comprehensive portfolio including recruitment, selection, equal employment opportunity compliance, ADA compliance, classification, compensation, personnel processing, performance management, training, HRIS, employee relations, benefits administration, and payroll coordination. Collaboration with the Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion is essential to align with and advance the College’s diversity initiatives, fostering an inclusive and equitable work environment.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Planning :

Develop and execute a strategic HR plan aligned with Ursinus College’s mission and objectives.

Lead the optimization and strategic deployment of the Human Capital Management System to enhance operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making.

Conduct ongoing organizational assessments to identify and address HR needs, ensuring the College remains adaptive and forward-thinking.

Operational Management :

Oversee the comprehensive operations of the Human Resources Department, including a team of four staff members, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices in HR management.

Implement and evaluate service delivery methods, recommending adjustments to staffing and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Supervise, mentor, and evaluate HR staff, fostering professional development and a high-performance culture.

Work collaboratively with external providers to ensure effective delivery of HR services and programs.

Policy Development and Compliance :

Develop and implement HR policies and procedures that support College objectives and regulatory compliance.

Ensure compliance with equal employment opportunity, ADA, and other relevant regulations.

Administer employee benefits and leave programs, ensuring adherence to legal standards and alignment with employee needs.

Collaboration and Diversity Initiatives :

Partner with the Diversity and Inclusion Vice President to promote and implement diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives across the College.

Champion the College’s Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity Plans, creating an inclusive and supportive work environment.

Training and Staff Development :

Lead the development and implementation of training programs to enhance staff skills and performance.

Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the HR department and across the College.

Data Management and Analysis :

Oversee data collection, analysis, and reporting related to HR functions, ensuring data integrity and leveraging insights for strategic planning.

Conduct organizational studies and prepare detailed reports to support institutional decision-making.

Budget and Resource Management :

Participate in the development and administration of the HR budget, ensuring prudent management of resources.

Identify opportunities for cost-effective solutions in HR operations without compromising service quality.

Requirements and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, business administration, or a related field; a master’s degree is highly preferred.

At least seven years of progressive human resources experience, including substantial supervisory responsibilities and strategic HR leadership.

Demonstrated expertise in diversity and inclusion principles and their practical application within an organizational context.

Proven ability to think strategically while effectively managing day-to-day operational responsibilities.

Higher education experience is highly preferred.
