The YMCA of the East Bay is seeking a Senior Program Director to partner in leading a fitness center of significant local impact and regional influence. The branch has pioneered many of the association health initiatives including functional fitness, diabetes prevention, and weight-loss interventions.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Program Director is responsible for the planning, management, and administration of programs including but not limited to the following: membership and branch programming.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Develop, lead, and direct assigned programs that meet Association standards and promote growing member participation and retention. Develop innovative programs to meet changing demands, standards, and target groups. Ensure programs are high quality, well-organized, and consistent with YMCA values and standards. Promote programs through internal communications, internal promotions, and coordination with branch/association external marketing.

Recruit, hire, train, develop, motivate, schedule, and direct staff and volunteers as needed. Monitor and evaluate staff performance.

Be an advocate and key leader for exceptional customer service and communication in the branch.

Effectively resolve member questions and complaints.

Prepare and manage annual budget for assigned program areas and meet or exceed financial objectives.

Ensure program areas and equipment are maintained in an orderly and safe manner, according to Association standards. Support maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment as required.

Establish partnerships in the community and work with the Marketing Department to provide effective marketing and outreach to acquire new members.

Support and implement member engagement events and promotional activities.

Develop membership acquisition strategies to support membership sales and growth.

Provide assistance in fundraising for the Annual Branch Support Campaign.

Attend appropriate trainings and meetings to enhance knowledge and bring new and innovative programs to the YMCA.

Serve as a member of the branch leadership team.

Special projects and other duties as assigned.

MEASURE OF EFFECTIVENESS:

This position has a primary impact on the YMCA's ability to provide high-quality programs and membership. Therefore, the effectiveness of the fulfillment of this position should be measured by:

Budgets will be met, revenue achieved, and cash managed according to sound practices established by the Finance Department;

Staff and volunteers will be recruited/hired, supervised, developed, and evaluated;

Participants will be retained with a high level of satisfaction;

Communications related to programs will be accurate and timely;

Relationships will be developed with collaborating community partners.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.

Five years of programming experience.

Two years of sales or customer service experience.

Two years of supervisory experience.

Must be self-directed, highly motivated, and creative.

Excellent customer service, problem-solving, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Completion of YMCA program-specific and trainer certifications must be accomplished within 60 days of hire.

Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and other computer programs necessary to perform the duties of the job.
