Overview:
Southern Star is currently seeking highly motivated and energetic students or recent graduates to join our team as summer interns. The Supply Chain Intern is exposed to a variety of project-based assignments and will receive mentorship, detailed orientation and training, and valuable work assignments.Company Overview:Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline is a leading transporter of natural gas to Americas heartland, providing quality service since 1904. It's about the people who make it happen and the communities we serve.Job Overview:This position offers a variety of opportunities including basic supply chain tasks such as material flow, reverse logistics, inventory control, and using relevant software. Activities can include but are not limited to data analysis, process improvement, and supporting the operations of the supply chain department. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in materials management and supply chain processes, coupled with excellent analytical skills and a proactive attitude.Interns will typically support the supply chain department in the performance of assignments, spend time shadowing actual business case processes, and have unique assignments that support larger projects as well as experience the day-to-day workings of the department. They may perform and/or participate in additional activities/events which help them build a strong network within the Southern Star community and with fellow interns.Responsibilities:Duties/Responsibilities:Data Analysis and Reporting:
Monitor and report on reverse logistics.Conduct root cause analysis and develop corrective actions.Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure continuous improvement.
Process Improvement:
Develop process to enhance quality and increase asset recovery yields.Liaise with cross-functional teams to develop process.Recommend and initiate cost reduction procedures to improve profitability through value analysis and process improvement.
Operational Support:
Understand the routing of inbound and outbound shipments.Understand master data for inventory processes.Understand warehouse functions to facilitate possible solutions for reverse logistics implementation.
System Management:
Work with current software tools like Oracle, RF Smart, and Excel for daily tasks assigned.Research internal ticketing systems to manage return order statuses.
Communication and Coordination:
Participate in daily communications between stakeholders.Coordinate with returns processors and key business owners to ensure quality product return procedures.
Documentation and Compliance:
Ensure adherence to safety and quality guidelines.Maintain record accuracy inventory management practices
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:Qualifications : To be considered for the rates Summer internship:You must be 18 years of age by the start of the summer internship assignment and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.75 after each completed semester/term.You must be authorized to work in the United States.Junior and Senior candidates are on track to graduate with a bachelors/masters degree.Majoring in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.Plan to pursue a career in supply chain or materials management.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Familiarity with ERP systems and inventory management software is a plus.Ability to travel 25%
