OverviewUnder limited supervision, the Director of Finance is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the activities of the Finance Department, including Grants, Contracting, Procurement, and other key elements associated with county finances. The CFO designs and implements all financial activities of the County in compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and legal requirements. This role establishes financial management policies that ensure County solvency and ensures that funding is available to maintain existing services and support new or enhanced programs. Additionally, the CFO evaluates the economic feasibility of new services and capital investments.
The CFO oversees all aspects of the County's Finance and Accounting functions. This includes planning, controlling, designing, and implementing financial activities in compliance with Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) standards, regulations, and legal requirements. The CFO is responsible for developing reports, financial statements, coordinating external audits, and providing actionable recommendations on both organizational strategy and operations. Functions reporting to this position include accounting, payroll, accounts payable, and budget management. The CFO reports directly to the County Administrator.
QualificationsA Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and 5 years of experience in governmental accounting is required, or some equivalent combination thereof. Certified Public Accountant or Certified Government Finance Officer is a plus.
