Position Overview:

The Director of Business Development & Partnerships is a senior sales position responsible for maximizing participation in Leadership Austin’s best-in-class corporate training and public programs. The role will be responsible for directing significant new growth and serving as an ambassador to present Leadership Austin’s suite of learning, development, and civic engagement opportunities to new audiences. This includes developing, managing, and closing business within target areas for expansion across Central Texas. The successful candidate will have a proven record of building market position, recruiting, developing a pipeline of qualified leads, increasing admissions, and developing multi-year partners.

Job Functions

Business Development – 65%

Lead Leadership Austin’s business development and earned revenue strategy, expanding awareness and access to best-in-class programming.

Assess markets to develop and oversee a strategic plan for growth, particularly for new or undersubscribed initiatives.

Engage new clients, demonstrating how Leadership Austin’s services aid in a company’s talent development, employee retention, community engagement, and overall success.

Develop and manage all stages of the sales pipeline, including prospecting, discovery, calls/meetings, negotiation, closing, and the client feedback loop.

Establish and manage customer relationships and seek out aligned strategic partnerships, collaborating closely with the Chief Program Officer and Chief Development Officer for client onboarding, fulfillment, and cross-sales opportunities.

Manage sales activity across the staff, generate leads, and fully utilize and optimize our CRM platform for sales flow optimization.

Track new markets and emerging trends.

Strategize innovative revenue models that meet evolving workplace and community needs.

Program Recruitment, Marketing & Outreach – 30%

Develop and deploy recruitment and comprehensive marketing strategies for 6+ programs, a leadership conference, annual info sessions, and Leadership Austin’s new suite of offerings.

Refine how programs are presented in marketing collateral and online.

Manage and cultivate a prospect funnel, including research and qualification.

Implement a robust system for tracking prospect engagement and measuring success.

Represent Leadership Austin at our signature events and in the larger community, such as giving presentations, attending community events, and serving on committees or councils.

Regular travel within Central Texas as part of outreach.

Administration and Budget Management – 5%

Contribute to a workplace culture of belonging, resilience, and innovation.

Oversee earned revenue budget and marketing/media trade opportunities.

Support and assist colleagues with operational needs during peak seasons.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

8+ years in sales, business development, or a similar role.

People-oriented self-starter who represents the organization with professionalism, quality, and serves as an ambassador for Leadership Austin.

Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding assigned goals and targets.

Passion for serving to help individuals and organizations achieve greatness.

Strong executive presence, credibility, and ability to build trust.

Creative/analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills and ability to meet deadlines.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with ability to speak in front of large groups and communicate effectively at all levels.

Experience leveraging and optimizing a CRM, such as Neon, for prospect management.

Effective time management, planning and prioritization skills.

Ability to follow through on details without reliance on administrative support.

Ability to travel to/from the office and off-site locations for classes, events, and outreach.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides), and Zoom.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):

College degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Experience generating revenue through programs, events, and/or new business models.

Experience implementing effective recruiting strategies.

Experience with program pricing strategies and managing revenue and expenses.

Some related background in organizational/leadership development or talent management.

Leadership Austin alumni.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $72,000.00 - $82,000.00 per year
