Job Summary

The Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance is responsible for organization and administration of the Athletics Department's National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) compliance program. The Director certifies eligibility and processes financial aid for student-athletes, monitors coaches' activities relative to rules compliance, and interacts with departmental staff members and coaches to ensure compliance with NCAA rules and regulations.

Job Description

Direct comprehensive NCAA rules education programs for administrators, coaches, staff, student-athletes, boosters, members of the public, offices supporting the functions of the athletics department and outside stakeholders.Provide technical expertise and serve as a resource for all sports programs and the campus community on athletics-related rules, regulations and policies.Oversee and monitor NCAA Eligibility Center status and the National Letters of Intent (NLI) program for all incoming student-athletes and communicate relevant information to all coaches.Oversee and coordinate the transfer and initial eligibility certification process for incoming student-athletes and determine the continuing eligibility status for all student-athletes each semester.Oversee roster management and playing and practice seasons declarations.Conduct and ensure the timely investigation, resolution and self-reporting of rules infractions, as they may occur.Provide timely and accurate systems to complete mandated forms, reports, assessments, and audits as required by various agencies.Prepare all NCAA and Northeast Conference waivers, petitions, and appeals in collaboration with the Faculty Athletics Representative or Associate Athletics Director for Academics, where appropriate.Serve as University representative to the NCAA, Northeast Conference and national associations, as appropriate.Foster within the athletics compliance program a culture that promotes integrity and ethical behavior.Other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree required.A minimum of three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in intercollegiate athletics, or a related field.NCAA DI or DII NCAA Compliance; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree3-5 years' experience in NCAA Division I athletics compliance and management of compliance staff.Knowledge of ARMS software.Experience with use of Teamworks.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Candidates must demonstrate interpersonal and verbal communication skills.Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies (individuals and corporate).Critical thinking and problem-solving aptitude; ability to initiate appropriate action to resolve challenging issues.Organizational and time management skills to effectively prioritize and manage projects.Conscious customer service orientation; extensive working knowledge of NCAA regulations.Experience effectively utilizing research or management software systems (e.g., NCAA Compliance Assistant and LSDBi, Banner).Knowledge of and compliance with institutional, conference and NCAA rules, both those general in nature and those which apply specifically to their job responsibilities.Physical Requirement/ Demands
