Organizational Summary
The Corner Health Center is Michigan's first, largest and most comprehensive adolescent and young adult health center. The Corner provides high quality, judgment-free, affordable health and wellness care and education to youth and young adults ages 12 through 25 (and their children). We are proud to have over 45 years of experience providing integrated primary care and behavioral health, along with a host of specialties including gender affirming and LGBTQ care, allergy/immunology, adolescent health, gynecology, and care to individuals with complex needs. Our unique care model ensures no young person is ever turned away for inability to pay for their care.
Job Summary
The Corner Health Center seeks a Development Director with extensive experience raising funds for nonprofit organizations, ideally within a health care setting. This individual will work very closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to spearhead fundraising strategies and activities for the organization. This is an ideal position for someone with a passion for managing and growing a strong development program that ensures adolescents and their children have access to high quality and affordable healthcare services and education – irrespective of their background, ability to pay, or any other barrier. The Corner is changing the face of healthcare one young person at a time. This is an exempt, full-time position (40 hours per week, including some evening and weekend hours) with competitive salary and benefits. This person will report directly to the Executive Director, is a member of the leadership team, and supervises a team of 2 coordinators. The position is hybrid, with three days on site required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plans, implements and manages the organization’s development/communications program designed to meet the organization’s goals and objectives as defined by the strategic plan.
Develops annual revenue goals and plans to diversify and increase organizational budget through a comprehensive development strategy that includes individual, corporate and foundation donors (major giving, mid-level giving, monthly giving, online, etc.), as well as other sources.
Establishes and implements an annual calendar with the appropriate mix of fundraising and communications activities.
Works with the executive director, board of directors and volunteer committees to plan, execute and facilitate fundraising and communications strategies.
Serves as the primary staff liaison with the board and volunteer fundraising committees, and as a resource to the board of directors on all matters related to fundraising and communications.
Partners with executive director, board members and volunteers to identify, cultivate and solicit potential significant donors to help meet funding goals for the organization.
Directs the writing of funding proposals, direct mail letters, special event materials and other fundraising support documentation.
Researches and cultivates new grant opportunities; oversees, writes, and prepares grant application and funding reports. Works with program staff to support grant applications for program expansion.
Oversees special events for the organization, including major donor and stewardship events.
Oversees the stewardship, gift accounting and reporting functions, ensuring that all donors receive personal and timely acknowledgment of their gifts. Oversees the management of donor database.
Oversees the incorporation of policies and procedures, mission and vision in all development/communications plans.
Represents the organization at community events and public functions to actively engage funders, donors, prospects, community partners and other key stakeholders.
Prepare development reports including plans, accomplishments and challenges for leadership team and board of directors.
Support and mentor executive director, board, leadership team, and staff in their development efforts.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred
7+ years of experience in non-profit fund development, with a documented track record of growing a major gifts program.
At least 1 year of supervisory experience
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively interact with a diverse variety of stakeholders and constituents
Grant writing and reporting experience
Strong external networking, relationship and customer service skills
Proven ability to plan, monitor and grow revenue streams
Experience with budget development and management
Knowledge of donor database systems and fundraising software (the organization uses Donor Perfect)
Experience with online fundraising platforms
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Detail-oriented and highly organized
Commitment to the agency mission
Ability to work well as part of a team and independently
Understanding of the health care industry
Salary range for this position is $85,000 - $105,000, depending on experience, and includes a generous benefits package.
