What are we looking for in a Human Resources Director?The Human Resources Director is responsible for assisting in the planning, leading, directing, development and coordination of the policies and activities of the department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the agency's mission and talent strategy. This position requires exceptional written and verbal communication skills, analytical thinking skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment, and strong organizational skills. This role contributes at both hands-on and strategic levels. The desired candidate will need a strong focus on customer service, and the ability to build relationships with diverse groups is essential. This is a fully on-site position based in our Yakima campus, but occasional travel to other campuses may be required.
Human Resources Director duties may include:
Collaborating with leadership to develop and implement the agency's goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
Administering or overseeing the administration of programs including but not limited to benefits, reasonable accommodation, and leaves of absence (FMLA/PFML).
Assisting in performance matters, spearheading investigations, and the resolution of disputes.
Managing the performance appraisal process.
Managing retirement plan and other benefit audits.
Compiling and submitting annual EEOC reports.
Maintaining current knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, new technologies, talent management and employment law, and communicating changes in policy, practice, and resources to leadership.
Assisting in research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics.
Assisting with monitoring and ensuring the agency's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
Recommending best practices and reviewing & modifying policies to maintain compliance.
Developing and executing best practices for hiring and talent management.
Providing regular coaching and feedback, evaluating staff performance, and participating in the selection and hiring process for new HR staff.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or social science field required. Master's degree preferred.
Five years of relevant experience in human resources management, including proven success in leadership roles. SHRM-CP/SCP or HRCI PHR/SPHR preferred.
