Opportunity Overview: PROGRAM SERVICES DIRECTOR (PSD)

Supported by the Executive Director of Program, Health and Safety, the Program Services Director leads proactive and innovative programming to ensure high quality and equitable programs throughout all Clubs that align with Boys & Girls Clubs of King County priorities of serving more youth initiatives. The primary function of the PSD is to create and implement programs that are culturally relevant, appropriate for the age groups, and are delivered consistently in each Club. This role determines the appropriate training to ensure that staff are equipped with the resources and tools necessary to achieve successful programs. The Program Services Director will prioritize BGCA programs and local school initiatives and priorities. This position will develop and deliver effective procedures that allow measurement of programs, auditing, training, communication and educational materials to promote understanding, appreciation and adherence to all BGCKC and BGCA core programming. This role will have consistent input into marketing, social and web presentation of programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work with Leadership Team to establish a program menu that is aligned with the priorities of Reach More Youth and can be implemented across all Clubs; create a youth centric Club Experience through culturally relevant, inclusive, and diverse programming. Create a training program to support programs.

Determine and establish county-wide program standards across all Clubs, lead the organization’s participation in BGCA’s National Youth Outcomes Initiative (NYOI) and use data to perform qualitative and quantitative analyses; work with BGCKC staff to interpret and implement evaluation results to improve programs.

Understand national research and trends especially through BGCA aligning BGCKC training to support programs. Serve as the club expert in Spillett Leadership University.

Work closely with the Resource Development team to link metrics and evaluation activities to grant specific goals: provide data analysis and/or reports to meet requirements for data collection and outcomes evaluation for grant reporting.

Lead implementation of the Youth Program Quality Assessment (YPQ) evaluation program. Lead the work in Clubs in partnership with Schools Out WA including Methods trainings, internal and external assessments, and utilization of coaching hours. Ensure that all services are used to improve programs. Measure work and report results to LTM quarterly.

Deliver and promote training to support BGCKC efforts to increase positive outcomes for youth in the areas of Academic Success, Good Character Citizenship and Healthy Lifestyles.

Manage the agenda and priorities for the Leading Program Staff trainings with Executive Director of Programs, Health and Safety and Executive Director of Race, Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity.

Use technology, including webinars, online tools and services for sharing best practices and building community across the Club locations.

Develop and evaluate programs/curriculum (BGCA, SEL, PQA, etc.) that will be a part of BGCKC Elementary Programs offered in each Club. Train, implement, and ensure compliance in all Clubs. Work with Senior Teen BGCKC Leaders to support Teen Programs and Senior Behavior Support Specialist to support Mental Wellness programming.

Serve as part of the Program Committee of the County Board of Directors.

Keep abreast of emerging trends and research in ELO/quality work being done nationally. Identify how promising practices might be integrated into BGCKC’s current work.

Support and collaborate with local partners such as the City of Seattle Red Barn Ranch program, Schools Out Washington, and any other city, state or county initiatives including support of the Reading Program with the Area Director.

Develop curriculum for Summer Programs including Brain Gain and Summer Reading, and implement and track program evaluations.

Lead the work to ensure that program priorities are aligned with RMY and promoted accordingly through web, social, and meet with RD and rest of CSC to share the priorities each season.

Work with ED of Race, Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity on managing the County Calendar for Program Trainings.

Work with Licensed Senior Leaders to support staff required by DCYF to obtain Merit credits in our licensed Clubs. Manage Merit approved training by coordinating, delivering and reporting attendance. Report quarterly results to Chief Operations Officer, ED of Program, Health and Safety and Area Directors.

Work with and ensure that all Program Grants implementation and measurements in the Clubs happens in a timely manner. Participate with intention and preparation on the monthly Grant calls.

Frequent contact with peers in other nonprofit agencies, experts in the program assessment and evaluation field, government regulatory agencies, policy makers, leaders in youth development, and funders.

QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of current issues, research and innovations in program assessment and evaluation.

Knowledge of current issues, research, and innovations in youth development programs.

Knowledge of research methodologies, such as survey design and administration, focus group protocol, and mixed methods approaches.

Advanced statistical methods and facility with spreadsheet, database, and statistical analysis software.

5+ years progressive leadership or management experience with responsibility for strategic planning, program evaluation and staff supervision in the education or youth development fields.

Knowledge and understanding of WA State YQP initiatives.

Knowledge of youth and adult learning principles; ability to synthesize, interpret and communicate complex information to large audiences; experience delivering online training and services/support preferred.

Ability to design, implement, and manage systems and tools to both assess and evaluate the efficacy of the Boys and Girls Clubs of King County programs and to facilitate program and staff development based on the results.

Ability to establish metrics for BGCKC programs, including effectiveness indicators and evaluation tracking plans.

Ability to build and manage Program Services budget.

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to a variety of audiences.

Ability to work closely with Area Directors to support club programs, operations, and special focus areas.

Ability to develop, facilitate, and provide logistical support for countywide training program.

HOURS:

Regular Full Time 40+ Hours Weekly

LOCATION:

Club Service Center Regular Travel Required - In office at Club Service Center two days a week.

RATE/SALARY:

$65,000-$75,000

Key Performance Metrics:

Achieve continuous improvement of staff training and development program measured through the quality of employee trainings.

Drive quality program services messages to BGCKC community through website, social, PR etc.

Increase staff retention and development.

Achieve monthly and year end budget.

Improve NYOY, YPQ and Annual Report results both by Club and countywide.

Beat BGCA annual report average results each year.

Create authority within the community, BGCA, and BGCKC.
