Boys & Girls Clubs of Hamilton (BGCH) delivers outcome-driven experiences that enrich kids’ lives by impacting Academic Success, Good Character and Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles. We support and provide active learning, academic pathways, arts experiences, and creative learning environments. BGCH is currently looking for Program Managers to join our team at the East Avenue and Grand Boulevard Clubs.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Prepare Youth for Success
Ensure programs, services, and activities that prepare youth for success, promote safety of members, and quality in programs at all times. Provide guidance and role modeling to Youth Development Professionals and members.
Assist with administrative systems by registering new members and participating in their Club orientation process.
Verify quality improvement by monitoring and evaluating program achievement against target goals, recommending modifications that respond to member needs and interests.
Program Development and Implementation
Create fun and engaging programs that reflect BGCA programs and member interests.
Create weekly program schedule that reflects the program model and continuous quality improvement.
Provide program outcomes to appropriate staff at assigned intervals.
Participate in program planning meetings with other programming staff.
Health and Safety
Ensure a healthy and safe environment, supervising YDPs and members in program areas.
Guarantee relative program areas are clean, orderly, and safe.
Relationships
Provide individual guidance and establish relationships with members that are conducive to their growth and development.
Maintain daily contact with Club staff, including full-time, part-time, and volunteers, to discuss issues challenges and opportunities and to provide the best possible program delivery.
Continue contact with other youth-serving agencies, schools, and parents of members.
Provide supervision and direction to Youth Development Professionals and volunteers.
Deliver success stories and photos about kids engaging in activities for marketing purposes.
Supply activity attendance and lesson plans to Executive Director for outcome reporting purposes.
Additional Responsibilities
Participate in professional development trainings as required by BGCH.
Keep ongoing inventory of supplies and materials needed to conduct effective programming.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Club Director or Executive Director.
May participate in special programs and/or events outside of working hours.
May be asked to drive Club van.
Serve as acting Club Director in her/his absence.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
We maintain a 15:1 member to staff ratio. Activities are varied and require active engagement during educational and recreational programming, which may include extended periods of walking and standing.
Activities will be varied due to working with youth and could require running and extended periods of standing and walking.
Maximum unassisted lift = 50 lbs. Average lift less than 25 lbs.
Requires ability to use computer, various standard and specialized software and database systems, keyboard, calculator and typical office machines.
Requires travel to other Clubs and community agencies for meetings and training events.
Skills/Knowledge Required:
Experience Working with Youth and Teens Required (Bachelor’s Preferred).
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with young people in a positive manner.
Experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning, and supervising programs based on the developmental needs of young people.
Energetic, forward-thinking, and creative individual with high ethical standards.
Ability to work with a team.
An understanding of the needs and interests of young people.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to interact with young people in a positive way, particularly as it relates to behavior issues.
Maintain a positive, friendly, and cooperative attitude at the worksite.
Valid driver’s license.
CPR, First Aid certification, and Child Abuse Prevention certification.
