Under the general supervision of the Director of People and Culture, this

CLS Business Partner People and Culture

will work in the Assistant Vice Chancellor’s immediate office and be a Lead Analyst to all department analysts/administrative assistants in policy adherence and deliverance and all HR functions and processes. This incumbent will serve as the primary link between the HR Generalist and the Campus Life Services staff including recruitment, selection, stipends, reclassifications, equity, exceptional requests, onboarding, and performance management. Assists department directors, managers, and supervisors with resource allocation, problem resolution, complicated human resource issues, space planning, and general planning. Plans and implements department-level HR-related and compliance internal communications to improve organizational effectiveness. Designs and develops strategies in all areas of operations that take into account the diverse nature of CLS. Regularly works on highly complex, time-sensitive, and confidential matters where analysis of situations and recommended actions require in-depth evaluation of variable factors and extensive knowledge of UCSF and CLS’s policies and procedures. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals may result in additional costs, subpar customer service, and a negative impact on departmental operations and employee morale. The incumbent will also serve on multiple committees in CLS as ambassador to the AVC administration.

***NOTE: This is a hybrid role that requires to be onsite 4 days in office.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $101,600 - $157,500 (Annual Rate).

Campus Life Services (CLS) is a large administrative division that employs nearly 1000 workers (full-and-part time) and includes multiple departments, including facilities, utilities, sustainability, housing, parking & transportation, childcare, fitness & recreation, conference & retail services, document & print services, among others. Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related area and /or equivalent combination of education and experience.

7 years relevant, progressive experience.

Advanced knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols, and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and/or personnel management.

Advanced interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, political acumen, advising, and counseling skills.

Advanced knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as event planning, basic fundraising processes, risk management planning, website design, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines.

Advanced knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.

Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.

Advanced skills in short- and long-term strategic planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service.

Advanced knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, and/or human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees.

Ability to handle high-level, escalated customer complaints and follow through to resolution.

Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing in English with customers and department staff at all levels.

Office management experience in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.

Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Strong attention to detail and ability to meet competing deadlines.

Ability to work in both team and individual performer environment.

Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to be flexible and shift priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

Lean or Six Sigma experience or equivalent.

Experience developing and implementing a communications plan.

Experience with developing policy and procedures for a large and complex organization.

Facilities management experience.

Knowledge of UCSF and UCOP policies and procedures.

UCSF or other higher education work experience.

Union contract experience.
