The Security Guard / Public Safety Ambassadors protect and guard University property (both clinical and nonclinical); maintain order among the public and the UCSF community; monitor and control entry to restricted areas; inspect areas to prevent fires, accidents, and other hazards; direct visitors and answer questions concerning building and/or exhibit layouts. The job will involve the ability to push and pull up to 25 pounds; stand and walk for extended periods of time; carry and lift 21-30 pounds and run short distances.Effective 10/17/23: We are offering a new hire sign-on bonus of $500 to all external hires!Department Description
The UCSF Security Services Division strives to ensure the safety and security of learners, staff, and patients inside and outside of UCSF properties, clinics, and health facilities. They assist UCSF PD to provide a crime-free and safe environment through the highest level of professional services, integrity, respect, and excellent customer service.Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.Valid California Driver's License.Excellent customer service and effective problem-solving skills; ability to fluently speak, read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in English.Demonstrated ability to work calmly under stress in emergencies; sound judgment skills.Demonstrated record of excellent attendance and reliability.Requires bending, squatting, and climbing stairs; pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds; reaching above shoulder level; sitting for extended periods and the ability to stand and walk for extended periods; carrying and lifting 21-30 pounds; gripping and grasping; repetitive movements of upper and lower extremities; and ability to run short distances.General Personal Computer knowledge and demonstrated proficiency using MS Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)The following items must be obtained within the first six months of employment:
C.P.R. CertificationBasic First Aid certificationCPI de-escalation trainingAED trainingClery Act training
Note: Physical/health screening, fingerprinting, and background checks are required.Preferred Qualifications
Experience and training in the security field.One or more years of experience in the security field.California Guard Card.Military experience.License/Certification
