Overview:

The Director of Engineering is a crucial leadership role at OKANA Resort, tasked with maintaining the integrity and operational efficiency of the entire resort. This position demands not only extensive certifications and experience in resort engineering, including aquatics systems, but also a proven ability to lead independently and proactively. The ideal candidate will be an expert in managing complex mechanical, electrical, and structural systems in a resort setting and will exhibit a strong capacity for self-direction and innovative problem-solving.

Responsibilities:

Engineering Leadership: Oversee all engineering aspects of the resort, including the physical building structure, mechanical, electrical, water treatment, HVAC systems, kitchen & laundry equipment, and extensive aquatics operations.

Team Development: Recruit, train, and mentor the engineering team, fostering a culture of excellence in customer service and maintenance standards.

Strategic Initiative: Act as a self-starter who anticipates challenges and proactively addresses issues before they impact resort operations or guest satisfaction.

Project Management: Utilize expert knowledge in hotel/resort openings to lead and manage projects effectively, ensuring timely completion within budget constraints.

Collaborative Excellence: Work seamlessly with other members of the resort management team to achieve overarching goals focused on client and associate satisfaction.

Qualifications:

High school diploma, bachelor’s degree in related course of study and/or relevant certifications required.

Read, write, speak and understand English fluently.

7+ years of Hotel Director of Engineering experience; waterparks/large aquatics facilities preferred.

Hotel/resort opening experience, including knowledge of Project Management responsibilities.

Leadership skills; Develop and train the Engineering team.

Experience dealing with vendors to negotiate service agreements.

Experience creating & implementing an effective preventive maintenance program for all areas of the resort.

Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, life safety systems, preventative maintenance systems and all related engineering disciplines.

Financial acumen to manage budgets, control costs, and implement operational standards that are cost effective to ownership.

Ability to create a 5-year Capital Plan for hotel repairs and improvements.

Ability to communicate effectively with customers and OKANA team members.
