This role requires strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to provide strategic IP counsel to biotechnology clients while maintaining high standards of client service.Key Responsibilities:Draft, file, and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications in the biotechnology and life sciences industries.Conduct patentability assessments and freedom-to-operate analyses for biotech innovations.Manage patent portfolios, advising clients on IP strategy aligned with their business objectives.Perform due diligence investigations for mergers, acquisitions, and licensing deals related to biotechnology patents.Respond to office actions and interact with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and international patent offices during prosecution.Collaborate with partners, associates, and technical staff to develop comprehensive patent strategies for clients.Provide legal opinions on issues of patent infringement, validity, and enforceability.Assist in patent litigation matters, including oppositions, re-examinations, and appeals.Stay updated on industry trends and developments in biotechnology and patent law to better serve clients.Maintain and foster strong client relationships, providing proactive and tailored legal solutions to meet their needs.Qualifications:Education:
Ph.D. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or a related scientific field.Certification:
Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).Experience:
