This role requires leadership capabilities, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional client service in the field of biotechnology patent law.Key Responsibilities:Draft, file, and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications in the biotechnology and life sciences sectors.Conduct patentability assessments, freedom-to-operate analyses, and advise clients on strategic IP portfolio development.Perform due diligence investigations for mergers, acquisitions, and licensing agreements related to biotechnology intellectual property.Prepare responses to office actions and represent clients in patent prosecution matters before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and international patent offices.Collaborate with a team of attorneys, patent agents, and technical specialists to devise tailored IP strategies that align with clients' business objectives.Provide opinions on patent infringement, validity, and enforceability.Assist in patent litigation, including oppositions, appeals, and post-grant proceedings.Stay current with developments in intellectual property law and biotechnology to offer informed advice to clients.Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring a proactive approach to meeting clients' IP needs.Qualifications:Education:

Ph.D. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or a related scientific discipline.Certification:

Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).Experience:

3-8 years of experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications, evaluating patent portfolios, and performing due diligence investigations, preferably in a law firm environment.Skills and Competencies:Strong technical expertise in biological sciences with the ability to translate complex scientific concepts into effective legal strategies.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining legal and scientific issues to clients.Organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.Leadership skills with the ability to mentor junior attorneys and patent agents.Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in patent-related matters.Ability to work independently and collaboratively, building strong client relationships and delivering results.Commitment to providing high-quality, client-focused service in a fast-paced legal environment.Prior experience in a law firm setting, particularly in intellectual property law, is preferred.A client-centric approach with a proactive mindset for meeting clients' business and IP goals.
