You will be a highly organized, conscientious, and experienced individual that works alongside the Executive Director(s) to support all departments across Kitsap Humane Society.Founded in 1908 and located in Silverdale, Washington, Kitsap Humane Society (KHS) serves Kitsap County and beyond as more than a shelter. Our mission is to provide positive, life-changing solutions for people and animals in need. We are committed to upholding an open admissions policy for stray pets, while maintaining an extensive adoption program, a low euthanasia rate, and excellence in our services.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis role is responsible for a wide variety of Human Resources tasks. One day you may spend focusing on employment recruiting, while the next may be spent leading a staff wellness committee and the next working with organizational leaders to create and implement policies and practices that foster a positive working environment for staff and volunteers. You never know what each day may bring!Daily tasks can range from recruiting, hiring, onboarding, ensuring accurate record keeping, recognizing employee milestones, staff development, performance management, and a wide variety of other human resource-related tasks. Human Resources functions also include coordinating benefit open enrollment, administration of the employee manual, responding to staff questions, and handling confidential employee relations (in conjunction with department leaders and the Executive Director(s)) and managing various employee leaves (FMLA, WA State Paid Medical / Family Leave).RequirementsQualities of the Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will have 2 or more years of experience in Human Resources and/or relevant professional experience. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to always maintain confidentiality, and the ability to maintain a professional and calm demeanor in stressful situations is a must. You must have experience with payroll and onboarding systems, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other software designed to perform essential HR functions. In this position, being detail-oriented, accurate, highly organized, and able to multi-task will help you succeed!
