We are seeking a

Junior Accountant

to assist with the organization's accounting, financial and data management processes. The Junior Accountant is responsible for all aspects of Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable, assisting in maintaining and reconciling the general ledger, including month-end and year-end closings, donor reconciliations, bank reconciliations, general ledger entries, grants accounting, preparation of audit schedules, and other critical fiscal management responsibilities. The Junior Accountant will adhere to and seek to improve existing internal controls while complying with and staying abreast of GAAP. The Junior Accountant plays a key role in the organization's ability to meet its program goals and, ultimately, achieve its mission.

The Junior Accountant position is based in Washington, DC and reports to the Senior Accountant. The National Partnership is a hybrid organization where staff are required to report to the office a minimum four (4) days a month.

Responsibilities:

Process Netsuite account payables, maintain current vendor list, maintain vendor 1099 records and filing 1099 reports;Process all cash receipts, maintain daily cash control report, make all deposits, prepare monthly cash receipt summaries and update cash flow spreadsheet;Assist with bank reconciliations;Reconcile company credit card transactions, obtain and maintain staff receipts and post to Netsuite;Manage account receivables, maintain invoice log, reconcile receivable accounts, and follow-up on receipts;Maintain time allocations from payroll software and apply to salary allocations;Assist in preparing semi-monthly payroll;Maintain and reconcile employee travel related expenses;Assist in preparation of monthly closing journal entries;Reconcile monthly health, dental and long-term disability insurance invoices to payroll and propose monthly journal entries;Maintain online filing system, including paid bills and consultant contracts;Assist with the budgeting and annual audit process.Qualifications:

The candidate must possess:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent work experience;At least 3-5 years' work experience in an Accountant or Junior Accountant position, with specific experience with Accounts Payable, cash management and closing entries;Strong analytical and organizational skills;Demonstrated ability to maintain the department's information and materials in an accurate and organized way with strong attention to detail;Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word;Demonstrated ability to use time management in order to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and deliver work on time with limited supervision;Knowledge of basic accounting procedures and GAAP;Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process;Hands-on experience with an accounting software required, Netsuite preferred;Willingness to be flexible and adaptable in a smaller environment;Team player with a positive attitude and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization;Interested in expanding your analysis and knowledge about diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism and the role that racial inequity plays in our society; committed to building and/or deepening your commitment to racial justice work.

Classification

The National Partnership recognizes a staff bargaining unit, National Partnership United, affiliated with the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union/IFPTE Local 70, a union for non-profit workers. This position is

NOT

included in the NP United bargaining unit.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this role is $67,531-$83,266 with the exact salary determined by years of relevant experience, in alignment with NPWF's compensation setting criteria.

The Junior Accountant is a full-time position based in our Washington, DC office. The National Partnership maintains a hybrid work environment where staff are required to be in the office a minimum of 4 days per month, with additional in-office and in-person days determined by your role and job responsibilities.
