POSITION SUMMARY

The Staff Accountant - Real Estate is responsible for the oversight, auditing, and accuracy of leasing information. The role includes processing of timely payments to landlords and service providers. This position will also assist in preparing rent payment documentation, auditing, and reporting of sales data to landlords, and maintaining the accuracy of data in the brand's real estate system (CoStar) for multiple entities. The Staff Accountant reports to the director of accounting at our Columbus, OH location.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Must possess ability to:

Maintain completeness and accuracy of lease accounting software (CoStar)Audit invoices for lease compliance, proper landlord fee inclusion and billing irregularitiesResolve invoice errors and discrepancies through communication with landlordsPrepare payment runs as needed (monthly, weekly, etc.)Reconcile landlord accountsEnsure compliance to GAAP and company standards and controls relating to leasesReconcile and maintain lease-related balance sheet accounts including preparing journal entries for lease accruals and other store occupancy activityPerform project accounting functions, including recording of asset values and appropriate project accruals (ROU Assets & Liabilities)Comply with legal and ethical standardsMaintain excellent customer service with internal and external partnersAssist with special projects, including real estate finance work (budgeting/forecasting, lease review and interpretation, tracking of store repair and maintenance projects, etc.)Proactively identify areas of opportunity and recommend solutionsOther Ad Hoc reporting and projects as required.QUALIFICATIONS

Three to five years of experience in payables, accounting, audit, or finance

Real estate and/or retail experience is preferred, but not necessary

Understanding of GAAPAbility to prepare work accurately and timely across multiple entitiesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong problem-solving skillsInterest in advancementStrong PC skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SAP, and Microsoft Dynamics 365Prior experience with ERP accounting systems and Costar are preferredEDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting is required
