The Director of Communications and Content Creation for Women's Basketball reports to the Senior Associate Athletics Director, External Affairs/Strategic Communications. This role serves as the communications advisor to the head coaches, providing expert input and guidance on all external-facing statements, social media presence, news releases, video, and other communications.The position includes the following responsibilities:Manage media requests for head coaches and student-athletes.Serve as the lead spokesperson for women's basketball, with the authority to issue statements and post to social media on behalf of the team.Direct and lead brand management meetings, focusing on reach, generating revenue through ticket sales and marketing, and recruiting.Focus on digital content creation to tell compelling stories, produce game notes and media guides, ensure stats production and records are maintained, and direct media credentialing and press box organization.Oversee the development and execution of strategy, content, planning, and analytical insights for all areas of social media.Attend events and practices, creating content for social media and the web while facilitating media interviews.Travel with the Women's Basketball team to 15-20 games per year.Work with media to pitch story ideas and set up interviews, and provide media training to student-athletes.Collaborate with others in External Communications to promote and protect the Carolina brand.Minimum requirements include:Substantial experience in athletics communications with college athletics.Strength across creative disciplines with expertise in writing, editing, graphics, and storytelling.Strong creative skills and ability to lead a creative team, engaging and motivating creative personalities.Understanding of recruiting needs and content that resonates with appropriate channels.Exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skills.Valid driver's license required.Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment, or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.
